Das Fachmarktzentrum auf der Grünen Wiese ist hierzulande weit
ver breitet, aber nur selten ästhetisch befriedigend. Dass das nicht
so sein muss, zeigt ein Blick nach Frankreich. Hier existiert mit den
Open Sky Centern eine echte Alternative. Ra hel Will hardt hat sich
den Typus genauer angeschaut. Für die deutschen Archi tekten
sieht sie darin eine Chance, um sich Ge stal tungshoheit zurückzuer-
obern. Bevor das Vorbild je doch Schule ma chen kann, muss sich
noch einiges in den Köpfen der Planer und Politiker bewegen.

Speciality retail markets on greenfield sites are rather common in
Germany, but they rarely have an aesthetic appeal. A look at
France, where the Open Sky Centers are a real alternative, proves
that this must not be the case. Rahel Willhardt took a closer look
at this type of retail store. For German architects he identifies an
opportunity to regain design sovereignty. However, before the
