Innovation Award Architecture+ Presentation 2023 – the winners
For the 8th time the architectural journal AIT in cooperation with AIT-Dialog and Messe Düsseldorf, initiated the Innovation Award Architecture+ Presentation during the EuroShop 2023. The Innovation Award always is intended for manufacturers of products and solutions for the trade fair and shop construction segment as well as architects, interior designers and designers who work in these areas. The Award was initiated to honour products that correspond to the requirements of architects to a special degree. The prize recognises conceptual solutions for selected objects and products, which satisfy in design and functionality. Important assessment criteria are the authenticity of materials and the variety of application.
A jury of five renowned architects and interior designers decided from the 19 displayed products upon the winners on 26 February 2023.

In 2023 the Innovation Award, one Special Mention and three Mentions were awarded:
Innovation Award
Bloom Technology by Arpa Industriale
This year’s Innovation Award goes to “Bloom Technology” by Arpa Industriale for its special contribution to sustainability in the production of HPL surfaces. This is achieved by substituting synthetic resin/phenols with lignin, a natural waste product in the production of pulp and wood-based materials. Fossil material components are thus replaced by renewable raw materials. The conversion of the production process will be implemented successively in all Arpa Industriale product ranges. All previous material qualities and design options will be retained.
Special mention
Move It 10 by XAL
A special award goes to XAL for the Move it 10 track system and applies in particular to the constant further development of lighting technology and design at the highest level over the years. The track with its slim profile is reduced to a static minimum and can be used in different situations thanks to various adaptive elements. From downward spotlighting, indirect upward lighting, pendant luminaires to wide-area lighting, versatile lighting scenarios are feasible. The jury was also impressed by the workmanship and design quality of all components, including the surfaces. Thanks to XAL’s own powder coating shop, the track system is available in all colours. The idea of sustainability is missing from the product communication and does not seem to be in focus. However, the jury wishes much success in the implementation of sustainability as well as in the design.
Mentions
Hot Vario by IDEAL AKE
The “Hot Vario” table-top hot holding showcase from Ideal Ake convinces with its innovative convection heating technology as well as the modular system that allows the showcase to be used from a single element to a tower solution consisting of 4 modules. Its shapely, slender design and filigree, minimalist appearance make it very easy to integrate into the existing ambience. The only question that remains is why it cannot also be used as a cooling element.
Tech Thickness by Luce5
The “Tech Thickness” linear luminaire by Luce 5 convinces with its innovative design as well as its special installation method and minimal installation thickness. It is installed inwards, creating an invisible, completely glare-free light source – the observer perceives the light, but not the glare-free technology behind it. “Tech Thickness” can be installed in materials as thin as 5 millimetres and on different substrates. In this way, it solves one of the everyday problems that interior designers constantly have. However, it should also be offered as a single strip and not just integrated into a component.
Caroline by concept-s Ladenbau & Objektdesign
With “Caroline”, concept-s Ladenbau & Objektdesign have created an innovative furnishing and presentation system that functions as a pure plug-in system with invisible connections and is filigree yet stable. The insert modules can be finely and slimly designed for flexible and individual integration into the overall concept. Only the name on each profile is superfluous.
All participating products are displayed for the entire duration of the fair at the Innovation Award stand (Hall 13, Stand 13C01). In addition, all participants will be published in a special section of AIT after the fair.
