Crogiolo – so hieß das Industriegebäude, in dem Marazzi
in den 1930er-Jahren in Modena gegründet wurde. In den
1980er-Jahren entstand hier die gleichnamige Forschungs-
und Designwerkstatt. Seitdem steht der Name für Kol-
lektionen mit Manufakturcharakter, die handwerkliches
Knowhow mit industrieller Fertigungstechnik kombinie-
ren. So auch Luz. Das Feinsteinzeug im Kleinformat und in
zehn Farben besitzt explizit eine Glasur, die an die Ästhetik
handglasierter portugiesischer Fliesen erinnern soll. Grob
geformte obere Kanten erzeugen leicht unregelmäßige
Oberflächen. Die unteren Kanten sind gerade, sodass das
Feinsteinzeug perfekt verlegt werden kann.

Crogiolo was the name of the industrial building in
which Marazzi was founded in Modena in the 1930s.
In the 1980s, the research- and design workshop of the
same name was established here. Since then, the name
has stood for collections with the look of a manufactory
that combine craftsmanship with industrial production
technology. Luz is no exception. The porcelain stoneware
in small format and in ten colours has an explicit glaze
intended to recall the aesthetics of hand-glazed Por-
tuguese tiles. Roughly shaped upper edges create slightly
irregular surfaces. The lower edges are straight so that
the porcelain stoneware can be perfectly installed.
