Die neue Struktur erschließt das erste Obergeschoss • The structure opens up the first floor

U rsprünglich als Markthalle für Getreide errichtet und im 18. Jahrhun-
dert zur Börse umgebaut, erlebte die Bourse de Commerce in Paris
zwischen 2016 und 2021 eine zweite Umwidmung: Das unter Denkmal-
schutz stehende Ringgebäude dient dank gezielter Eingriffe von Architekt
Tadao Ando seit Mai 2021 als privates Kunstmuseum des Unternehmers
und Kunstsammlers François Pinault. Alle neu implementierten Gebäu-
dekomponenten reflektieren und kontrastieren mit ihrer Ando-typischen,
poetischen Stringenz den detailreich ausgestalteten Bestand. Fortgeführt
wird diese Gegensätzlichkeit auch durch die Lichtplanung von Ronan
und Erwan Bouroullec. „Es galt die Durchgangsbereiche zu beleuchten.
Deshalb haben wir uns auf die Gestaltung des Lichts in seiner Beziehung
zu dem, was es beleuchtet, konzentriert, aber auch auf deren szenische
Präsenz (…)“, erklären die Bouroullecs und weisen darauf hin, dass es
ihnen vor allem darauf ankam, Installationen zu entwickeln, die sowohl
an- wie ausgeschaltet eine gute Figur machen. In diesem Sinne entstan-
den in Zusammenarbeit mit Flos Bespoke maßgefertigte Leuchten mit
cleaner Ästhetik und besonderen Abmessungen: So finden sich beispiels-
weise in den historischen Treppenräumen 17 Meter lange Kronleuchter-
Systeme, deren Glaszylinder durch eine schwarze Metallkonstruktion ge-
halten werden; während die Beleuchtung der Eingangshalle aus fünf par-
allel angeordneten, jeweils sechs Meter langen, horizontal abgehängten
Rohrelementen aus Glas und Aluminium besteht. Eindrucksvoll! hs

I nitially built as a market hall for grain and then converted into a
stock exchange in the 18th century, Bourse de Commerce in Paris ex-
perienced a second repurposing between the years 2016 and 2021:
thanks to targeted interventions by the architect Tadao Ando, since
May 2021 the listed ring-shaped building serves as the private art mu-
seum of the entrepreneur and art collector François Pinault. With the
poetic stringency which is typical of Ando, all the newly implemented
building components reflect and contrast the building stock rich in de-
tails. This oppositeness is also continued because of the lighting plan-
ning by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec. “The task was to illuminate the
transit areas. This is why we concentrated on designing the light in its
relationship to what is illuminated but also on the scenic presence (…)”,
the Bouroullecs explain and point out that they were mainly intending
to develop installations which look good when they are switched on
as well as switched off. In cooperation with Flos Bespoke, customized
luminaires with clean aesthetics and special dimensions were thus
manufactured: Thus, for instance, in the historic stairwells there are 17
metres long chandelier systems whose glass cylinders are supported
by a black metal construction whereas the lighting in the entrance hall
