SUPERMARKT IN INNSBRUCK
mit Fliesen von Ceramiche Refin
with tiles from the Frame Collection by Ceramiche Refin
Entwurf • Design Silvia Boday, AT-Innsbruck
Lichtdurchflutet: Café und Eingangspavillon • Light-flooded: café and entrance pavilion
Innsbrucker Zentrums, realisiert. Bodays so unterschiedliche Konzepte
Stimmige Korrespondenz: In vergrößerter Form nimmt
Mehr Ornament geht kaum: patchworkartig verlegte Fliesen • More ornamentation is hardly possible: tiles installed like patchwork
T since the Mölk entrepreneurial family considers architecture to be
Abgeleitet vom Fliesenmuster: das Fassadenmotiv der Eingangsfront • Derived from the tile pattern: the façade motif of the front he Austrian MPreis chain is already spoilt when it comes to prizes
marketing tool. More than 40 architects have already been commissio-
ned to design the branches of the supermarket with the cubic red logo.
The Innsbruck architect Silvia had the chance to work for MPreis already
for the second time. After her first work at Weerberg, the architect, who
has been working independently since 2003, designed the MPreis in the
Wilten district not far from the centre of Innsbruck. Boday’s highly diffe-
rent concepts optimally reflect the MPreis philosophy: the common
denominator is found in the architectural quality and diversity and not
in the nth copy of the original design. A challenge in Wilten was the hete-
rogeneous existing fabric. The task was to unite several structures diffe-
ring in appearance, dimensions and height into a supermarket. Seen
from the outside, these volumes remain autonomous. On the inside, a
homogeneous tiled floor with a striking ornamental pattern ensures con-
sistency. These tiles from the Frame Collection by Ceramiche Refin are
installed on some parts o the walls and the ceilings. As if proliferating –

rooms. Harmonious correspondence: in an enlarged form, the glazed
front of the new entrance pavilion takes up the ornamentation.
