D as Krankenhaus der autonomen Provinz Navarra im Norden Spaniens verfügt seit
Februar über eine neue Allergologie. Diese wurde in das bis dato ungenutzte
vierte Obergeschoss der Notfalleinheit auf dem Krankenhaus-Campus von Pamplona
integriert. Das lokale Architekturbüro GVG Estudio erhielt im Oktober 2018 den Auftrag
für diesen Aus- und Umbau. Anfang 2020, inmitten der Planungs- und Bauzeit, brach
die Corona-Pandemie aus. Ihre Auswirkungen auf den Klinikalltag – vor allem auf die
Arbeitsbedingungen von Ärzten und Krankenschwestern – gaben GVG Estudio Impulse
für die farblich-atmosphärische Gestaltung der Allergologie. Die Warte-, Aufenthalts-
und Flurzonen sind in OP-Grün getaucht – eine Hommage, so die Architekten, an den
unermüdlichen Einsatz des Krankenhauspersonals. Überraschend und schön ist der
Kontrast dieses OP-Grüns mit dem Rosé-Ton der Toiletten. Ein Wow-Effekt beim Öffnen
der Türen! Boden, Wand und Decke sind monochrom in diesen zarten Ton getaucht.
Nicht nur für die Mitarbeiter der Allergologie, auch für die Patienten entstand somit ein
abwechslungsreiches, stimulierendes Farbszenario. Die Behandlungsräume entlang
der Fassaden erstrahlen hingegen – ganz funktional – in Weiß. Die teils transparenten,
großteils aber transluzenten raumhohen Glasfassaden erzeugen über ihren großflächi-
gen Lichteinfall eine homogene, für die Behandlung optimale Helligkeit.

A new allergology department was added to the hospital of the autonomous commu-
nity of Navarra in northern Spain last February. This was integrated into the previo-
usly unused fourth floor of the emergency unit on the Pamplona hospital campus. The
local architectural firm GVG Estudio was awarded the contract for this extension and con-
version in October 2018. In early 2020, in the middle of the planning and construction
period, Covid-19 broke out. The pandemic, its effects on the clinic’s everyday routines –
especially on the working conditions of doctors and nurses – gave GVG Estudio impulses
for the atmospheric colour design of the allergology department. The waiting, common
and corridor zones are bathed in a shade of green typical of operating rooms. The con-
trast of this green with the pink hue of the toilets is surprising and beautiful, creating a
wow effect when opening the doors! The floor, wall and ceiling are monochrome and
bathed in this delicate colour. The result is a varied, stimulating colour scenario for both
the staff of the allergology department and the patients. The treatment rooms along the
facades, on the other hand, gleam – quite functionally – in white. The partly transparent,
but mostly translucent floor-to-ceiling glass façades with their large-area incidence of light
ensure a homogeneous brightness that is optimal for the treatment.
