VOM RITTERSAAL ZUM WOHNRAUM: UMBAU EINES DENKMALS VON KERN ARCHITEKTEN

Im Unterallgäu liegt der ortsbildprägende, ehemalige Adelssitz – nun Wohnraum mit dem Echo vergangener Repräsentation. • This former aristocratic residence now offers living space that still echoes its representative past.

Das zentral in Frickenhausen gelegene Vöhlinschloss wurde im
15. Jahrhundert von der Patrizierfamilie Vöhlin als wehrhafte, frei-
stehende Anlage mit dicken Mauern und zwei Türmen errichtet. Im
18. Jahrhundert kamen zwei Zwerchhäuser und ein barocker Rittersaal
im Dachgeschoss hinzu. Die gut erhaltene historische Bausubstanz
macht das im Volksmund genannte „Schlössle“ zu einem Denkmal
von nationaler Bedeutung. Für die zukünftige Wohnnutzung wurde es
von Kern Architekten umfassend und denkmalgerecht saniert.

The Vöhlin Castle in Frickenhausen was built in the 15th century by
the patrician Vöhlin family as a fortified structure with thick walls
and two towers. In the 18th century, two dormers and a Baroque
knights’ hall in the attic were added. Thanks to its well-preserved
historic fabric, the building – known by locals as the Schlößle – is
considered a heritage site of national importance. For its future resi-
dential use, it has been comprehensively restored by Kern Architek- Foto: Célia Uhalde
