Ein Bildungsboom führte in den 1970er-Jahren zu einer regelrechten
Welle von Schulneubauten. Heute gelten die komplexen Anlagen aus
Sichtmauerwerk und Stahlbeton jedoch meist als schwieriges Erbe.
Dabei sind viele der Konzepte nach wie vor aktuell – vor allem in
Bezug auf Grundrissplanung und Raumprogramm. Mit der Sanierung
und Erweiterung der Schulanlage Röhrliberg in der Schweiz zeigen
Baumgartner Loewe Architekten beispielhaft, wie der schützens-
werte Bestand erhalten und für die Zukunft fit gemacht werden kann.
The boom in education in the 1970s prompted the construction of a
huge number of new schools. Today, the complex facilities made of
exposed brickwork and reinforced concrete are usually regarded as
a difficult legacy. Yet many of the concepts are still up to date, espe-
cially in terms of floor plans and room schedules. With the refur-
bishment and extension of the Röhrliberg school complex in Swit-
zerland, Baumgartner Loewe Architekten demonstrate how existing
buildings worthy of protection can be made fit for the future.
