uf dem Gelände des ehemaligen Asthma-Kranken -
hauses der Kamillianer beschreibt die Kirche von

Dominikus Böhm einen Teil des En sem bles. Die wuchtige
Backsteinmasse des Exte rieurs löst sich unmittelbar beim
Eintreten in das Mittel schiff auf und die vertikale Struktur
der Fassade wird durch das eingesetzte Streiflicht als
bedeutendes Merkmal des Klinker expres sionismus her-
vorgehoben. Durch sein keusches Weiß erhält der
Kirchenraum seinen hoffnungsfrohen Charak ter und wird
durch seine Einfach heit bis ins Detail geprägt. In dem hel-
len, von Licht durchfluteten Raum erzeugt das Material
Naturstein eine mehrdeutige, belebende Stimmung und
die subtilen Nuancen der einzelnen Naturstein platten prä-
gen im Wechsel spiel mit dem einfallenden Licht die Di -
men sionen des ehemaligen Kirchenraumes. Es wird eine
wertige Atmosphäre erzeugt, die dem Kolumbarium die
gewünschte Bühne zur Aufstellung der Urnengrabstätten
bietet. Der Entwurf der Grabstätten nimmt Bezug auf die
stringente Glie derung der sich über fünf Ebenen erstre-
ckenden, einfühlsam angeleuchteten Arkadenwand und
definiert Zwi schen räume als Verweilorte. In subtiler Würde
nehmen die eingestellten Urnen schränke in ihrer Gestal -
tung die Themen Licht und Naturstein wieder auf.

Camillians, the church built according to plans by

Dominikus Böhm is a part of the ensemble. Upon entering
the central nave, the mighty brick mass of the exterior dis-
solves and the façade’s vertical structure is emphasized
with spotlights as a significant feature of Brick Expressio-
nism. Due to its virginal white, the church has a hope-
inspiring appearance and is characterized in every detail
by itssimplicity. In the bright, light-flooded space, natural
stone as the material produces an ambiguous, invigora-
ting atmosphere. In the interplay with the incident light,
the subtle nuances of the individual panels of natural
stone highlight the dimensions which the former church
had. A high-quality atmosphere is produced which gives
the columbarium the desired setting for arranging the urn
graves. The design of the tombs > follows the stringent
structure of the carefully illuminated wall of > arcades
extending over five levels and even creating in-between
spaces as places for staying a while and remembering
those having passed away. With subtle dignity, the inser-
ted urn cabinets continue the design which puts the focus
on the light and the natural stone used all over.
