Issue 6.2025

BAR HOTEL RESTAURANT

Dear Readers,

This issue of AIT has been created with an extra dose of editorial passion! Just as we did in June 2021 – when women in architecture were officially brought into the spotlight for the first time with the WIA – Women in Architecture Festival Berlin (see AIT 6.2021) – we have again taken the second, now nationwide edition of WIA as an opportunity to pay special
tribute to women in interior design and architecture! Starting on page 10, we do so with numerous portraits, an event calendar, interviews with three experts in interior design, architecture and urban planning, our AIT Interview feature and many news on female professionals. In our recurring series, Adelaide Testa takes us on a tour of her hometown, Turin, master’s student Marie Gröper shares insights from her “working at …” MET Architects in Basel, and three students from TU Darmstadt present their submission to the Student Award for Healthcare Architecture. You’ll find a wealth of engaging literature by and about women in design on page 74. Projects on this issue’s theme “Bar Hotel Restaurant” that were created with female creative power are marked in the table of contents. We’ve compiled the best gastronomy concepts from around the world: from Stuttgart, Hamburg, Berlin, Chemnitz, Munich, Nijmegen, Gothenburg, Prague, Naples and Barcelona to Taicang in China. We highly recommend reading this issue closely – not only as a rich source of inspiration for your own design work, but also as a stimulus for your upcoming holidays. Enticing restaurant recommendations, unique bars and cafés and distinctive hotel concepts might influence your route. Perhaps en route to Venice? The entire German architectural scene had gathered there – or so it seemed – at the beginning of May to attend the 19th Architecture Biennale curated by Carlo Ratti, themed “Intelligens. Natural. Artificial. Collective.” Until the Biennale closes on 23 November, we’ll continue reporting on the various national contributions and pavilions. One thing we can already say: it’s well worth a visit! To get you in the mood for going out, don’t miss Reding’s essay – whether your style is elegant, traditional, or down-to-earth! We wish you a light-hearted and delightful summer!

Best wishes
