Es ist eine Ikone – das für die Weltausstellung im Jahr 1900 in nur drei
Jahren erbaute Grand Palais in Paris. Über der majestätischen Belle-
Epoche-Architektur sitzt Europas größtes Glasdach. Das in der Sanie-
rung von französischem Kulturgut erfahrene Büro Chatillon Architec-
tes hat das geschichtsträchtige Ensemble komplett saniert. Pünktlich
zu den Olympischen und Paralympischen Sommerspielen 2024 konn-
ten dort die Fecht- und Taekwondo-Wettkämpfe ausgetragen werden.
Im Juni wurde der flexible Prachtbau vollständig wiedereröffnet.

It is an icon – the Grand Palais in Paris, built in just three years for
the Universal Exhibition in 1900. Europe‘s largest glass roof sits
above the majestic Belle Époque architecture. Chatillon Architec-
tes, a firm experienced in the renovation of French cultural herita-
ge, has completely refurbished the historic ensemble. The fencing
and taekwondo competitions could be held there just in time for Foto: Charly Broyez, FR-Paris
the 2024 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games. The magni-
ficent flexible building was fully reopened in June.
