A lter Wein in neuen Schläuchen – das meint nicht immer etwas Schlechtes! Altan-
sässig, altes Konzept – neben etwa 30 ausgesuchten Weinen und Schaumweinen
wird wie gewohnt auch weiterhin Vesper serviert. Heterogen präsentiert sich das neue
Interieur mit pechschwarzer Lackierung, bunter Beschichtung, natürlicher Holzoptik.
Einem Lokal dieser geringen Größe – geschossweise nur 25 Quadratmeter – stünden
großformatige Fliesen grundsätzlich besser, aber durch die Tiefenwirkung ihrer Färbung
und ihren hellen Zwischenbereich gelingt es den Keramiken auf Wand und Tresen, trotz
des hohen Fugenanteils den Raum optisch zu vergrößern. Das quadratische Fugenbild
betont die Ordnung und Rasterung, die sich im gesamten Entwurf konsequent wieder-
findet: im Mobiliar, den Industrieleuchten, der Kreidetafel und den dekorativ inszenierten
Weinflaschen. Platzsparend und effizient sind die freitragenden Tischplatten, die bei Be-
darf an die Wand geklappt werden können. Komplementärkontrast: Das Blau überhöht
das ohnehin schon dominante Orange der Spindeltreppe und erklärt sie damit zum pro-
minenten Kernelement des Erdgeschosses. Wild und lebendig geht es im Obergeschoss
zu. Dafür ist weniger das Pflanzengewächs im Luftraum, sondern vielmehr die Lineart
der Frankfurter Künstlerin Kristina Suvorov verantwortlich. Eine Variation dünner und
dicker Linien betont die gesamte Wandfläche mit abstrahierten Szenen vom Weintrunk.

O ld wine in new skins – this is not always something bad! A long-established, old
concept – besides 30 select wines and sparkling wine, as always snacks are also
being served. The new interior looks heterogenous with its pitch-black lacquering, co-
lourful coating, natural wood look. A venue with these small dimensions – only 25
square metres per level – would in principle look better with large-format tiles but, due
to the depth effect of their colouring and their bright intermediate area, the ceramics on
the wall and the counter succeed in visually enlarging the room despite its high propor-
tion of joints. The square joint pattern emphasizes the order and the grid which is con-
sistently rediscovered in the whole interior: in the furniture, the industrial luminaires,
the blackboard and the decoratively staged wine bottles. Saving space and efficient are
the self-supporting table tops which can be folded against the wall if required. Comple-
mentary contrast: The colour blue heightens the already dominant orange of the newel
stair and thus makes it the striking core element of the ground floor. The scene on the
upper floor is wild and lively. This is less due to the plants in the open space but to the
Line art by the Frankfurt artist Kristina Suvorov. A variation of thin and thick lines em-
phasizes the complete wall surface with abstract scenes of drinking wine.
