1885 wurde nach Plänen des Architekten Emil De Weerdt im belgischen
Ghent der „Wintercircus“ errichtet. Sommers wie Winters gastierten
Zirkusgruppen, bis das Gebäude 1920 fast vollständig abbrannte. Wie-
deraufgebaut wurde es nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg als Autowerk-
statt genutzt und 2005 strukturell renoviert. OYO Architects haben
jetzt dort mehr als 30 Arbeitsbereiche für Technologie-Start-ups, eine
große Mehrzweckhalle, Räume für Ausstellungen und Konferenzen,
sowie zwei gastronomische Einrichtungen untergebracht.

In 1885, the “Wintercircus” was built in Ghent, Belgium, according
to plans by architect Emil De Weerdt. Circus groups performed here
in both summer and winter until the building burned down almost
completely in 1920. It was rebuilt after the Second World War and
used as a car repair shop, before being structurally renovated in
2005. OYO Architects now have more than 30 workspaces for tech-
nology start-ups, a large multi-purpose hall, rooms for exhibitions
and conferences, as well as two catering facilities.
