PANGAIA POP-UP-STORE
IN LONDON

B rightly coloured, sustainable and revolutionary – Pangaia stands for more than just
colourful clothing! The brand describes itself as a “material science company”.
The fashion label can call seven patented technologies for the sustainable use of re-
sources its own. In order to transfer these values and principles to the premises of the
London department store Selfridges, designer Bevan Roper and the set design specia-
lists from Diagon created a playful pop-up concept that can be used universally in nu-
merous locations around the world. Recycled translucent structures and coloured light
create a fascinating atmosphere that expresses the gaudy colours of the individual gar-
ments in a variety of ways – and in ever-changing variations. An abstracted greenhouse
serves as a reference and connecting element between nature and science – the two
sustainable and technological aspects of Pangaia. As a pavilion, it also symbolises a
place of getting together and meditative reflection. The individual structures are mo-
dular and can thus be extended; they are complemented by the so-called “Science La-
boratory”, a heptagonal tower construction which, like the structures of the houses, is
made of translucent material. The constantly changing light spectrum radiates the core
ideas of the Pangaia fashion brand into the world at various locations.
