At the epicenter of New York's art and creative scene,
where Soho, Bowery and Little Italy come together, in-

himself with a new apartment. The interior design al-
ternates somewhere between noble boutique flair and
sweaty darkroom atmosphere. In short: it's very camp!

in the 21st century. Nuriev, who was born in the Russian city of Stav-
ropol in 1984 and founded Crosby Studios, his own interior design
studio, in Moscow in 2014, is currently regarded as the hottest up-
and-coming star on the international interior design scene. Last year,
he also made it onto the cover of an AIT issue with the Muscovite hip-
ster restaurant Pink Mama. Since 2017, Nuriev's office has had a

most of the time — together with his partner, fashion and marketing
specialist Tyler Billinger. The new, shared home of the two fashioni-
stas is located on Manhattan's Lower East Side. The corner is known

Nuriev and Billinger pay more than 5,500 dollars a month for the du-
plex apartment, which is barely 60 square meters in size. Last year,
they spent almost another 50,000 dollars on the conversion. The out-
come is a residential interior that is undoubtedly among the most
unique and individual interior concepts of the season — a design so-

is very gay, queer or camp! Tiled grey walls are combined with high-
pile, soft carpets, while silver and gold faux leather padding — was-
hable! — serves as kitchen fronts as well as sofa covers and bed head.
Metallic curtains and violet tinted glass mediate between the indivi-
dual areas; they separate the rooms, yet without visually closing them
off. Last but not least, the filigree furniture and luminaires, designed
by Nuriev and manufactured by the Indian company Hatsu, belie the
