ie ist eine Hommage an das ursprüngliche Original der Leuchten-Ikone
Discocó – die neu gestaltete Version Discocó Wood von Marset.

Entsprechend ihrem zehn Jahre alten Vorgänger, der ebenfalls von
Christophe Mathieu für Marset entworfen wurde, zeichnet sich auch die
neue Version der Pendelleuchte durch ein spannendes Spiel zwischen
Licht und Schatten aus. Dieses entsteht durch die doppelte Lichtbrechung
an 35 Scheiben, während sich das Licht seinen Weg von innen nach außen
sucht. Dabei wird durch die Reflexion an den Scheibenunterseiten das
Licht auf die überlappend angeordneten Scheibenoberseiten geworfen.
Deren Ausführung in Eichenholz lässt warme, abgestufte Lichtnuancen
entstehen, die gleichsam einen Eindruck von räumlicher Tiefe vermitteln.
Auch in ausgeschaltetem Zustand strahlt Discocó Wood durch die neue
Materialkombination eine behagliche und ruhige Wirkung aus und eignet
sich damit gerade für die Beleuchtung von Wohnbereichen. Trotz ihres
Umfanges von 68 Zentimetern suggeriert die Leuchte ein Gefühl von fili-
graner Leichtigkeit. Um auch das tatsächliche Gewicht, trotz der Schwere
des Holzes, möglichst gering zu halten, wird die zentrale Kugel, die der
Aufhängung und Fixierung der Scheiben dient, in dieser neuen Leuchten -
version in grafitfarbenem Nickel ausgeführt. Via eines Stecksystems wer-
den hier alle Scheiben über separate Verbindungsstäbe mit der Kugel
kraftschlüssig gefügt. Dies ermöglicht eine einfache Montage sowie eine
bedarfsorientierte Demontage aller Elemente im Einzelnen. kg

t is an homage to the former original of the Discocó luminaire icon –
the redesigned Discocó Wood version by Marset. Conforming to its

ten-year-old predecessor product, which had equally been designed by
Christophe Mathieu for Marset, the new version of the pendant lumi-
naire is also characterized by an attractive play of light and shadow.
This is produced by the double light refraction at 35 disks while the
light is looking for its way from inside to outside. In the process, due
to the reflection on the undersides of the disks, the light is cast onto
the topsides of the disks arranged to overlap. The disks consist of oak
and create warm, graded nuances of light which quasi give the impres-
sion of spatial depth. When turned off as well, Discocó Wood has a
cosy and calm effect due to new combination of materials and is the-
refore particularly suitable for illuminating living areas. Despite its dia-
meter of 68 centimetres, the luminaire suggests filigree lightness. To
keep the actual weight as low as possible despite the heaviness of the
wood, the central sphere which serves for the suspension and the
anchoring of the disks is made of graphite-coloured nickel in this new
luminaire version. With a plug system, this is where all the discs are
friction-locked to the sphere with separate connecting rods. This allows
easy assembly as well as need-oriented individual dismantling of all
the elements.
