3 Mit über 22.000 Studenten ist die Syddansk Universitet die drittgrößte Universität
Dänemarks. Der in den 1960er-Jahren errichtete Hauptcampus in Odense besteht
aus einem einzigen lang gestreckten Gebäude, das im Laufe der Jahre immer wieder
durch ebenso streng lineare Anbauten erweitert wurde. Im Kontrast dazu soll bis 2020
nach einem Masterplan von C.F. Møller nördlich des Campus ein Forschungs- und Wis -
senspark in unregelmäßiger Bebauung entstehen. Als Verbindung zwischen den unter -
schiedlichen städtebaulichen Strukturen konzipierte das dänische Architekturbüro ein
Studentenwohnheim, das in Form von drei 15-geschossigen Türmen in die Höhe ragt.
Durch die Verdrehung der einzelnen Baukörper zueinander hat das Gebäude keine be -
stimmte Richtung, sondern fungiert vielmehr als Orientierungspunkt, der sowohl vom
Campus als auch vom neuen Park aus sichtbar ist. Auf die drei untereinander verbun-
denen Türme verteilen sich 250 Wohneinheiten. In der Nutzung ist der Komplex klar
gegliedert: Auf allen Geschossen befinden sich die Gemeinschaftsflächen in der Mitte,
während die Studentenzimmer entlang der Fassaden angeordnet sind. Durch die be -
sondere Gebäudeform bieten alle Räume Ausblicke in die Landschaft, ohne dabei vom
Nachbarzimmer einsehbar zu sein. Jedes Zimmer hat zudem einen eigenen Balkon.
Auch in der Gebäudemitte sorgen großzügige Glasflächen zwischen den einzelnen Tür -

sity in Denmark. The main campus built in the 1960s in Odense consists of a single
elongated construction which, in the course of the years, was again and again extended
with likewise strictly linear annexes. To form a contrast, until 2020 and according to a
master plan by C.F. Møller, north of the campus a research- and knowledge park with
irregular development is to be built. As a link between the different urban-development
structures, the Danish architectural office designed a student residence rising into the
sky in the form of three 15-storey towers. By rotating the individual buildings towards
each other, the construction does not have a definite direction but rather functions as a
point of orientation visible from the campus as well as from the new park. 250 residen-
tial units are designed in the three interlinked towers. Regarding the use, the complex
is clearly structured: On all floors are common areas in the centre while the students’
rooms are arranged along the façades. Due to the special shape of the building, all the
rooms have views of the scenery without anyone being able to look into them from the
room next door. Each room also has its own balcony. In the centre of the building as
well, spacious glazed surfaces between the individual towers ensure sufficient daylight
and make views in three directions possible.
