BUN BURGERS
IN TURIN
At the Turin branch of Bun Burgers, lovers of grilled
meat and Beyond Meat can now not only indulge in
the hip burger cult, they can at the same time and in
the truest sense of the word “dive” into a unique de-
sign ambience. Masquespacio from Valencia have
taken the tile motifs typical of Bun Burgers to the ex-
treme in an indoor swimming pool scenario.
F or twelve years now, interior designer Ana Milena Hernández Pa-
lacios and marketing expert Christophe Penasse have been deve-
loping interior concepts for catering facilities, hotels, shops and trade
fair stands under their office name Masquespacio. The name of their
office has long since become a brand name, because they create, their
name says it all, “more than space”, namely brands. The two Valenci-
ans like to stage spaces and they like to stage themselves. They both
firmly believe that design is an attitude to life. Once again, the duo
has proven this in general and for Bun Burgers in particular, because
the Milanese fast food provider has set itself the goal of combining
burger culture with design culture. Masquespacio has already realised
two Milan branches for Bun Burgers – and the branch presented here
is in Turin. One of the typical brand features of Bun Burgers is the cir-
cular – taken from burgers? – in the form of stools, seat and back cus-

in pastel colours are another unmistakable Bun Burgers characteri-
stic. All in all, this ambience evokes slightly postmodern associations.
The number of colours varies from location to location. In the Turin
branch there are three, which is due to the three large windows with
which the burger restaurant opens onto Via Giovanni Amendola. The
restaurant allows deep insights. Passers-by are supposed to notice the
colour sequence of light blue-pistachio green-rosé. The counter for or-
dering is green. In the rosé-coloured zone, guests can take a seat in
raised, intimate niches if they wish. And in the light blue zone, they li-
terally plunge and dive into a swimming pool scenario. Circumferen-
tial tiled seating steps, tiled walls and an equally central dining table
create the effect of sitting in a drained swimming pool. Reflective
metal panels on the ceiling and in the deep window reveals reinforce
this effect, as does the ladder seemingly leading out of the “pool”. The
round wall luminaires are reminiscent of the portholes of many a
swimming pool. The Bun Burgers branch in Turin celebrates its own
