VINOTHEK HEINRICHSHOF
IN ZELTINGEN-RACHTIG
Entwurf • Design kplus Konzept, Düsseldorf
von • by Henriette Sofia Steuer, Tübingen
W ith the brothers Peter and Ulrich Griebeler, it is already that tenth generation that
has devoted itself to viniculture. The duo cultivates eight hectares in an organic-
sustainable way and has turned the former family villa – located right at the Mosel River
– into a place of encounter for the enjoyment of wine. Thanks to the design interventions
by kplus konzept, they can now not only cater for regulars but also welcome holidayma-
kers and passers-by for wine tastings. To produce functional gastronomic premises, a
new arrangement of the layout was necessary: The central contact point is now the bar
room with an expansive counter which serves as the hub for accessing two guest rooms
and the kitchen. For the interior construction, the team around Bettina and Markus Kratz
oriented itself on regional materials and colours consistent with wine growing: green like
vine leaves, pink like rose wine, yellow like the Mosel sun and grey like the regional slate
that is also found in the décor of the tiles. Influences from traditional wine bars, such as
wall panelling at half height, are here combined with high-quality furnishings of oak and
black-steel elements into a cosy and down-to-earth and yet modern “Vinothek”. Historic
photographs of the vintner family and other rarities make the winery history of the Grie-
beler family visible and thus ensure a unique personal touch.
