D ie Liste der Mieter im 16-geschossigen Aldgate Tower im Herzen
von London liest sich wie das Who is Who der internationalen
Wirtschaft. Uber, Aecom und WeWork und viele andere Unternehmen
agieren von hier aus weltweit. Für diese Klientel und deren Kunden
und Besucher einen lebendigen und attraktiven Treffpunkt im Erdge-
schoss des von WilkinsonEyre entworfenen Hochhausturms zu schaf-
fen, war die Aufgabe der Londoner Innenarchitekten Basha-Franklin.
Gleichzeitig sollte die Identität des Gebäudes gestärkt und dessen In-
dividualität auch nach außen hin sichtbar gemacht werden. Neben
einem bequemen, bunten Polstermöbel-Mix entschieden sich Basha-
Franklin für eine Deckenlösung des spanischen Herstellers Kriskade-
cor. Die filigranen Kettenvorhänge können jeder Entwurfssituation in
Abmessung, Form und Farbe, bis hin zur Bedruckung, individuell an-
gepasst werden. Aufgrund der enormen Raumhöhe der erdgeschossi-
gen Halle entschieden sich die Planer für eine effektvolle Deckenab-
hängung und entwarfen drei individuell angefertigte, farblich abge-
stufte Zylinder in unterschiedlichen Höhen und Durchmessern. Dank
der Leichtigkeit der zarten, pastelligen Aluminiumglieder schweben
die Strukturen in der Luft, verringern wirkungsvoll den Abstand zwi-
schen Decke und Boden, markieren den Standort der neuen, attrakti-
ven Lobby und sorgen – auch durch die Fassade wahrnehmbar – für
einen frischen Hauch von Farbe und Lebendigkeit. ps

T he list of tenants in the 16-storey Aldgate Tower in the heart of
London reads like a Who’s Who of international business. Uber,
Aecom and WeWork and many other companies do business from
here all over the world. Designing a lively and appealing meeting
place for this clientele and its customers and visitors on the ground
floor of the high-rise tower designed by WilkinsonEyre was the task
assigned to the London-based interior designers Basha-Franklin. At
the same time, the identity of the building was to be strengthened and
its individuality also revealed to the outside world. In addition to a
comfortable, colourful mix of upholstered furniture, Basha-Franklin
opted for a ceiling solution from Spanish manufacturer Kriskadecor.
The filigree chain curtains can be individually adapted to any design
situation in terms of dimensions, shape and colour, through to prin-
ting. Due to the enormous ceiling height of the ground-floor hall, the
planners decided in favour of a striking ceiling suspension and desi-
gned three individually manufactured, colour-graded cylinders of dif-
ferent heights and diameters. Thanks to the lightness of the delicate,
pastel-coloured aluminium chain links, the structures float in the air,
effectively reduce the distance between the ceiling and the floor, mark
the location of the new, inviting lobby and - also perceptible through
