is a holistic and coherent aesthetics demanded and developed. It has all the more to be
mentioned that the client of Karlsruhe Stadtwerke explicitly wanted this and arranged
this cooperation. “Art in architecture” here stands for a creative approach which correla-
tes with the architectural space and thus expands the ideas of the architects.
Light on – spot on! For the light choreography of the passengers

A further special feature of our lighting design: the RGB spots placed at irregular in-
tervals. These combine red, blue and green light into white light cones and initially
produce bright accents on the ground. When the passengers move below one of these
selective lights, they are framed by coloured shadows on the platform. In this way,
the passing people become actors of the lighting design. For the access areas, we
planned cone-shaped spots integrated in the ceilings and inspired by our Light Cone
L ceiling luminaire. Designed for jointless installation in suspended ceilings, the lu-
minaire is then filled and painted over. By installing several Light Cone luminaires, an
impressive light landscape was produced with the seemingly random positioning of
the spots being a deliberate contrast to the web-like rope structure of the platform
level. For me, it always remains exciting to see the case of such projects how strongly
the result in the end corresponds to the first vision and how close the initial models 3,10 45 1,00 50 50 1,50 X
and renderings are the photos of the implementation. The first experiencing of the 3,55 3,50 X
symbiosis of architecture and lighting design was magnificent and intense. Sometimes
one has to look twice – in this case, even seven times! Verkabelungssystematik • Cable system
