S eit Anfang dieses Jahres steht in Potsdam wieder das Palais Barbarini.
Das Kunstmususeum Barberini legt den Schwerpunkt auf impressio-
nistisches Schaffen und präsentiert drei wechselnde Aus stellungen pro
Jahr mit Werken von alten Meistern, aber auch zeitgenössischen
Künstlern. Dafür wurde das Palais Barberini – 1945 bei einem Luftangriff
stark be schädigt und drei Jahre später ganz abgerissen – wieder aufge-
baut. Wäh rend die Fassaden treu dem Original nachempfunden sind,
schufen die Berliner Hilmer & Sattler und Albrecht Architekten dahinter
einen modernen Museumsbau mit 2.200 Quadratmetern Ausstellungs -
fläche, verteilt auf drei Geschosse. Die Ausstellungssäle sind ruhig gestal-
tet. So können in Kombination mit dem detaillierten Beleuchtungskonzept
vom Licht planungsbüro Licht Kunst Licht aus Berlin die Kunstwerke unge-
stört wirken. Zum Einsatz kamen Produkte von Estol, einem Unternehmen
für Lichtsysteme aus Dortmund. Insgesamt sorgen 700 Quadratmeter der
LED-Shuttle-Lichtdecken für eine homogene Ausleuchtung der Aus -
tellungs räume und eine bessere Akustik dank zusätzlicher schalltechni-
scher Eigen schaften. Von Vorteil sind zudem die frei einstellbare Licht farb -
tem peratur, die flackerfreie Beleuchtung mit digitalem Steuerungssystem

old masters but also by contemporary artists. For this purpose, the Palais
Barberini – severely damaged in an air raid in 1945 and completely demo-
lished three years later – has been reconstructed. While the façades are
exact copies of the original, the Berlin architects from Hilmer & Sattler and
Albrecht designed behind them a modern museum building with 2,200
square metres of exhibition space on three levels. The exhibition halls are
designed to look unobtrusive. In this way, in combination with the detai-
led lighting concept by the Licht Kunst Licht light-planning office in Berlin,
the works of art are able to have an undisturbed effect. Products by Estol
were installed, a company for lighting systems from Dortmund. A total of
700 square metres of the LED Shuttle luminous ceilings ensure homoge-
nous illumination of the exhibition halls and better acoustics thanks to
additional qualities of sound technology. A further advantage is the indi-
vidually adjustable temperature of the light colour, the flicker-free illumi-
nation with the help of a digital control system as well as the tool-free
maintenance and the low installation depth of 120 millimetres. To illumi-
nate the ceiling structures in the halls with vaulted ceilings without gra-
zing light, LED Contour linear spotlights were installed there – likewise
with individually adjustable temperature of the light colour.
