Der neue Hauptsitz beherbergt Büro- und Seminarräume ... • Headquarter accommodates seminar rooms ... ... sowie Besprechungs- und Wartezonen der Akademie. • ...as well as meeting and waiting zones of the academy.
Currently, it can be observed in the design of childcare facilities that rooms are assigned
to certain themes and children use them according to their main areas of interest: for
example the bathing landscape, where the little ones busy themselves with imaginative
water games for hours. To facilitate orientation inside the day nursery, we developed a
colourful guidance system in collaboration with the design office urbn pockets. With the
help of magnets, the children can assign themselves to areas where they prefer to stay
on that day. Providing different rooms and granting self-determination when choosing
one’s daily programme support the situational approach of the day nursery.
Multifunctionality as well as the play and movement elements are a huge priority with
us in all rooms. After a joint lunch, the large room of the children’s restaurant is turned
into a movement space. Due to the open design of the children’s restaurant, the largest
room of the day care centre, it can also be used for festivities and events. This strength-
ens the community of day nursery and families. We always recommend the design of
such a large and open-plan room, because it allows and facilitates the organisation of
larger events at the own facility. An adventure shelf combining various functions is
located underneath the stairs in the movement area: children love to hide in the shelf’s
cave. The integrated slide and the climbing wall inspire lots of movement. Additionally,
the shelf provides plenty of storage space for sports mats and gymnastic equipment.
Well-conceived design – quality from the start
From the room concept to the smallest furnishing detail we attach great importance to
meticulous, sophisticated planning – which always has to be individual. Each day care
centre has its individual needs that have to be considered. Together with the client, we
examined all processes of daily pedagogical work and the needs of children and pre-
school teachers to design interiors which support the pedagogical work of the pme
Familienservice. Whether furniture, colour concept or room layout – the design of a day
care centre shall first of all meet the requirements of its young occupants. In the
Hamburg HafenCity, we implemented not just a day care centre within a construction
period of two years, but also the headquarters of the pme Familienservice. The family
service company provides numerous services supporting the compatibility of family
and work. The new headquarters additionally accommodates offices and the compa-
ny’s academy. We were responsible for planning the interior completion of all three
areas and the complete furnishing and equipment. We also acted as a building consult-
ant for pme Familienservice during the two-year construction phase. The result is the
prestigious headquarters combining all facilities of the company under the same roof
and giving it an attractive flagship in the form of the day care centre.
