V on klassisch bis innovativ, von zurückhaltend bis selbstbewusst – das
Produktportfolio des italienischen Treppenherstellers Fontanot
umfasst mo der nen Wohnungsbau und Eingriffe im Bestand ebenso wie
Luxus ho tels und Showrooms und kann sich dabei mit einer Reihe von
Koope ra ti o nen mit international anerkannten Architekten schmücken.
Nur einen Stein wurf vom zuletzt Aufsehen erregenden Projekt Bosco
Verticale entfernt, ist nun ein Pavillon im Auftrag der UniCredit entstan-
den. Mit Blick auf die Piaz za Gae Aulenti im aufstrebenden Mai länder
Stadt teil Porta Nuova, birgt das organisch geformte Ge bäude ein Au di -
torium, in dem Konferenzen, Ausstellungen, kulturelle Ver an stal tun gen
und Konzerte stattfinden. An prominenter Stelle platziert, verbindet im
Inneren eine Treppe das auf Platzniveau liegende Auditorium mit der
umlaufenden Galerie. Sie dient hauptsächlich Ausstellungszwecken. Die
scheinbar frei schwebende Treppe schwingt sich spiralförmig nach oben
und umschlingt einen mittig sitzenden Aufzug. Dabei verleiht die selbst-
tragende Konstruktion aus Carbon stahl dem Gebilde ein leichtes, elegan-
tes Erscheinungs bild. Auftritts fläche und Hand läu fe sind in Eichenholz
ausgeführt und bilden somit einen fließenden Über gang zum Parkett -
boden der Halle. Insgesamt fügt sich die Konstruktion harmonisch ein in
die von Archi tekt Michele de Lucchi entworfene, leichte Pavillonstruktur
aus gekrümmten Holz elementen und großflächig verglasten Fronten, die
bei Bedarf durch drehbare Holz lamellen geschlossen werden können. kb

residential construction and interventions in existing fabric just as
much as luxury hotels and showrooms and can be proud of a series
of joint projects with internationally renowned architects. Just a
stone’s throw away from the Bosco Verticale project which last attrac-
ted attention, a pavilion commissioned by UniCredit has now been
constructed. With a view of Piazza Gae Aulenti in the up-and-coming
Milan district of Porta Nuova, the organically shaped building has an
auditorium where conferences, exhibitions, cultural events and con-
certs take place. Positioned in a prominent spot inside it, a staircase
links the auditorium at the level of the square with the circumferential
gallery mainly intended for exhibitions. The seemingly freely floating
staircase spirals upwards and embraces an elevator in its centre. The
self-supporting construction of carbon steel gives stairs a lightweight,
elegant appearance. The treads and the handrails are made of oak
and thus form a flowing transition to the hall’s parquet floor. Overall,
the construction fits harmoniously into the light-weight pavilion desi-
gned by architect Michele de Lucchi and consisting of curved wooden
elements and extensively glazed fronts which can also be closed
