L ichter Textilhimmel: Seit 1572 wird bei Royal Tichellar Makkum in Holland hochwertige
Keramik produziert. Monadnock haben eines der Fabrikgebäude renoviert und im sel-
ben Zug eine leicht wirkende Büroebene mit Blick in die Produktion eingefügt. Zwischen
den Glastrennwänden der einzelnen Räume ließen die Architekten Zeltdächer aus einem
technischen Textil spannen. Dahinter verbergen sich sämtliche Installationen inklusive der
Beleuchtung. Ebenso wie über das Dach eintretendes Tageslicht wird auch das Kunst licht
durch den Stoff gefiltert in den Raum gebracht. Kombiniert mit hellem Holz und weichem
Filz ist eine einladende Geste in dem ansonsten rauen Produktionsumfeld gelungen.

B right fabric sky: Since 1572, high-quality ceramics is manufactured at Royal Tichellar
in Makkum in the Netherlands. Monadnock renovated one of the factory buildings
and, at the same time, added a lightweight-seeming office level with a view of the pro-
duction. Between the glass partitions of the individual rooms, the architects had tent roofs
of a technical textile stretched. They conceal all the installations including the lighting. As
is the daylight penetrating through the roof, artificial light as well is filtered through the
fabric and brought into the room. Combined with light-coloured wood and soft felt, they
succeeded in producing an inviting gesture in the otherwise rough production setting.
