B ereits in neunter Generation in Familienhand, hat die Trachten-Schneiderei
Wimmer seit 1741 ihren Sitz im malerischen Örtchen Schleedorf im Salzburger
Seenland. Für die notwendig gewordene Vergrößerung des traditionsreichen Stamm -
hauses konnte erfreulicherweise ein benachbartes Bauernhaus herangezogen wer-
den. Nach intensiver Auseinandersetzung mit dem Bestand entschieden sich Bau -
herren und Architekten für eine Lösung, die einen Dialog zwischen alter, wiederbeleb-
ter Bausubstanz und neuer, zeitgenössischer Funktionalität herstellt. Dazu entwarf LP
architektur einen eingeschossigen, scharf geschnittenen Verbindungsbau aus Stahl
und Glas, mit einer Tragstruktur aus Sichtbeton, ergänzt durch nur wenige natürliche
Materialien: Böden aus weiß lasierter Lärche und Einbauten aus Weißtanne. Sensibel
wurde im Rahmen der Sanierung der Charakter der Altbauten herausgearbeitet, und
die historisch geprägten Räume bilden nun den perfekten Präsentations- und Ver -
kaufs rahmen. Außerdem führt der pavillonartige, luftige Verbindungstrakt, der ledig-
lich mit einem Verkaufs- und Informationtresen möbliert ist, zu einer Stärkung des
Ortskerns. Er verbindet nicht nur die beiden Bestandsgebäude miteinander und
schließt eine Lücke, sondern definiert prägnant den Eingang als Adresse und dient als
attraktives Schaufenster – dem qualitätsbewussten „Zukunftsdorf“ angemessen.

F amily-owned already in the ninth generation, Wimmer tailoring specializing in
national costumes has had its seat in the picturesque village of Schleedorf in the
Salzburg lake district. Fortunately, it was possible to use a neighbouring farmhouse
for the necessary expansion of the parent company rich in tradition. After a thorough
analysis of the building stock, the clients and the architects decided in favour of a
solution which creates a dialogue between the old, revived building stock and new,
contemporary functionality. To achieve this, LP architects designed a single-storey,
sharply cut connecting construction of steel and glass with a support structure of
exposed concrete, complemented with just a few natural materials: floors of larch
wood varnished white and installations of silver fir. In the course of the renovation,
the character of the old buildings was carefully brought out and the rather historic
rooms are now the perfect setting for displays and sales. In addition, the pavilion-
like, airy connecting construction which is furnished with just a sales- and informa-
tion counter upgrades the village centre. It not only links the two existing buildings
and closes a gap but strikingly defines the entrance as an access and serves as an
attractive shop window – suitable for the quality-conscious “village of the future”.
