V on der Theorie in die Praxis – beim neuen E center in Gaimersheim wurden erstmals
die architektonischen Richtlinien angewandt, die ATP architekten ingenieure in einer
2012 ausgelobten Studie erfolgreich erarbeitet hatten. Für Edeka Südbayern hatten die
Architekten bereits 2006 die Corporate Architecture definiert, die nun die Grundlage für
die Wei ter ent wicklung bildete. Ziel war es, Elemente für die nächste Supermarkt-Gene -
ra tion zu entwickeln, die an den jeweiligen Standort anpassbar sind und damit den je -
weiligen Markt verorten, zugleich aber auch den Bezug zum Unternehmen schaffen. Fünf
Bausteine wurden definiert: Atrium, Pla za, Frontcooking, Grüne Wand und Super-Sign. In
Gai mers heim birgt Letzteres – eine Eingangsbox aus gelbem Glas mit Windfang – zusätz -
lich ein Blumen geschäft und eine Postfiliale. Durch sie kommen die Kunden zur Plaza,
das verbindende Herz stück. Auch der Backshop mit Front cooking-Be reich und die Kaffee-
Rös terei sind da ran angegliedert. Die Obst- und Gemü se abtei lung ist durch die Grüne
Wand gekennzeichnet, im Atri um wurde ein Nutz garten angelegt. Insgesamt wirkt das
eingeschossige, poly gonal geformte Gebäude durch die bis zu 17 Meter freitragenden
Brett schicht holz bin der sowie die raumhohe Glas fassade hell, offen und transparent.
Holz, Beton und dunkler Feinstein belag bestimmen die Materialität, wobei die Lamel -
lenstruktur an der Decke – aufgegriffen in der Bodenbelagsrichtung – für Dynamik sorgt.

F rom theory to practice – for the new E-center in Gaimersheim, for the first time the
architectural guidelines were used which ATP architekten ingenieure successfully
established in a study commissioned in 2012. Already in 2006, the architects had
defined the corporate architecture for Edeka Südbayern which was now the basis for
the further development. The aim was to develop elements for the next generation of
supermarkets which can be adapted to the respective site and thus locate the respec-
tive market while, at the same time, also referring to the company. Five building
blocks were established: atrium, plaza, front cooking, “green wall” and super sign. In
Gaimersheim, the latter – an entrance cube of yellow glass with a vestibule – also has
a flower shop and a post-office branch. Through it, the customers arrive at the plaza,
the linking hub. The bakery with the front-cooking area and the coffee roastery are
adjacent to it. The fruit- and vegetable section is indicated by the “green wall” and a
kitchen garden was added to the atrium. Overall, the single-storey, polygonal building
looks bright, open and transparent thanks to the up to 17 metres high self-supporting
laminated-timber trusses as well as to the ceiling-high glass façade. Wood, concrete
and dark fine-stoneware covering characterize the materials with the lamellar structure
on the ceiling – continued in the direction of the flooring – creating a dynamic look.
