Talks & Tours on architecture, design and planning – DOMOTEX 2020

Hannover, 10-13. January 2020

in cooperation with Deutsche Messe

Registration

AIT-Dialog presents on DOMOTEX 2020 from 10th to 13th of January 2020 Talks & Tours with international referees.

Introduction

Gone are the days when architecture was just about creating atmospheric spaces. Globalization, digitalization, finite resources, affordability, densification, the merging of town and country, worklife balance, responsibility for nature and future generations – these are just some of the factors that are changing the way we relate to architecture. Architects, interior designers and planners need to embrace a new consciousness in order to realize their visions, while at the same time responding in a thoughtful and considered way to the needs and constraints of users and their environment. No matter what our point of view, the focus is on change and transformation (SHIFT), development and renewal, and atmosphere and space – and the focus of DOMOTEX is on ATMYSPHERE, both symbolically and as the show’s keynote theme, as made real and tangible by the special “Framing Trends” showcase. The emphasis here is on the floor as an essential, space-defining element which has a vital role to play in interior design.

TALKS
SHIFT /// DIGITAL & CONNECTED IN THE CONTEXT OF ATMYSPHERE

Digitalization is now a major and ubiquitous theme, which is changing both architecture itself and the working practices of architects and interior designers. Technical innovations are creating countless new opportunities in building design. Connected working, building information modelling (BIM), parametric design, modular construction, prefabrication, customization of products – these are just some of the buzzwords of the digital transformation. Alongside our enthusiasm for all these impressive options, however, we must not lose sight of the impact on costs, production, scheduling, etc. in order to keep things in perspective.

TALKS
SHIFT /// SOCIAL & ECOLOGICAL IN THE CONTEXT OF ATMYSPHERE

There has been an unmistakable transformation in the consciousness of architects and interior designers. The limits of what is possible have shifted, and new developments are happening at breakneck speed. But does that make everything more indefinable and arbitrary, or – on the contrary – more individual and intentional? Because interdisciplinary work crosses boundaries and thinks outside the collective box, does it therefore form the basis of a new way of working, characterized by a growing sense of social responsibility and a new attitude among designers? At all events, the important thing is to have an influence and to create an identity, outside the mainstream, and always with an eye to better, environmentally aware design.

SHIFT /// LIVING & CARE IN THE CONTEXT OF ATMYSPHERE

Social changes, demographic shifts, the climate debate, developments in mobility and infrastructure, housing shortages and scarcity of resources – these are just some of the factors that are changing architecture and interior design, and driving the search for new possibilities. For progressive and alternative housing, for temporary and permanent interventions, for infill development and the densification of existing residential areas. Here the focus is not least on healthy living and working, sympathetic use of innovative materials, and the recycling of the existing architectural fabric.

SHIFT /// SPECIFIC & DIVERSE IN THE CONTEXT OF ATMYSPHERE

The job profile of architects and interior designers has become increasingly complex in recent years. Students in these disciplines no longer have to follow the traditional career path after they graduate. Digitalization and global working and thinking are driving a transformation that is creating a seemingly endless variety of possible specializations. New forms of collective working are emerging, which are less about a specific person and more about a concrete attitude or approach. Young architects and interior designers are crossing over traditional boundaries, and discovering the many new opportunities open to them.
