F armer since 1888 – Butcher since 2014!, lautet der Slogan der australischen Farmer -
itätsvolle Produkte in ihren landwirtschaftlichen Betrieben herzu stel len. Bereits seit zwei
kungsvoll in S zene set zt.
sun gen keinen Zweifel an b esagter Integrität aufkommen. Dafür gab es einen P reis für
das beste Retail Design bei den Australian Interior Awards 2016!
F armer sinc e 18 88 – Butc her sinc e 20 14! This is the slo gan of the Austr alian
Chrichton family of farmers who, already in the fourth generation, attaches impor-
tance to making exclusively high-quality products in their agricultural enterprises. For
two years already and on Bondi Street in Sydney, they have been selling hand-made
wooden boards, straw bags, kitchen utensils and – for the first time – prime Australian
meat products under the label “1888 Certified”. The demand for the meat from care-
fully raised grazing animals was so strong that, in autumn of last year, a flagship store
could be opened on the ground floor of the newly constructed Double Bay shopping
centre in S ydney. Australian interior designers Jade Notta ge, Cushla McFadden and
Chloe Matters, who work under the name of TomMarkHenry, translated the compa-
ny’s ethical guidelines suc h as honest y and integr ity into authentic materials and
designed an interior which – with the help of veined marble, dark recycled wood and
blue tiles – is intended not to outshine the c ulinary offers but rather to display them
skilfully and effectively. With little spatial depth, the sales room and the butcher shop
run along the Kiaora Lane shopping street and, thanks to generous glazing, leave no
doubt regarding the afore-mentioned integrity. This earned them a prize for best retail
design at the Australian Interior Awards 2016!
