Kirchen sind pr ägende Bauten – nicht nur für das Ortsbild, sonder n
ebenso in ihrer identitätsstiftenden Funktion für eine Gemeinde. Als
einem beständigen und besinnlichen Ort haftet ihnen in der schnell-
lebigen Welt von heute eine besonder e Atmosphäre an. Wie unter-
schiedlich Architekten mit dieser Bauaufgabe umgehen, demonstrie -
ren drei Beispiele auf den f olgenden Seiten: Neben der St.-Paulus-
Kirche im schwäbischen Balingen zeigen wir die Don-Bosco-Kirche in
Maribor (Slowenien) und eine Pfarrkirche in Monterrey (Mexiko).

Churches are characteristic buildings – not onl y for the c ityscape
but equally in their identity-conveying function for a par ish. As a
constant and contemplative venue, they enjoy a special atmosphe-
re in the f ast-paced world of today. How different architects are
handling this construction task is demonstrated by the three exam-
