Kuriose Material-, Formen- und Farbkombinationen verleihen der Kollektion ihren Charme.

D as noch junge Mailänder Label SEM, Spotti Edi zioni Mi la no, ist auf li -
mi tierte Möbel- und Designeditionen spezialisiert. Entworfen und ge -
fertigt wird ausschließlich in Italien. Die Zulieferer sind in der Regel altein-
gesessene Kunsthandwerks betriebe, hochspezialisierte Ma nu fak turen so -
wie innovative Verarbeiter. Als Entwerfer für die aktuelle Kol lektion „Fu tu -
ra forma“ konnte das Label das für seine unkonventionellen Interieur- und
Designarbeiten bekannte Turi ner Archi tek turbüro Mar cante-Testa gewin-
nen. Das entwarf für SEM eine dreiteilige Kollektion aus Tisch, Kron -
leuchter und Teppich. Alle drei Objekte spielen mit Anleihen aus der über-
reichen Designgeschichte von Turin, die mit Na men wie Carlo Mollino, Toni
Cordero, Lorenzo Prando und Riccardo Rosso verbunden ist. Der Tisch,
„Duale“ genannt, besteht aus zwei Teilen: einem länglichen Tischelement
mit einer schweren Laminattafel als Platte sowie einem runden Tisch mit
einer Platte aus warm-weißem Mar mor. Beide Ober teile ruhen auf hybri-
den Stützen aus Mahagoni-Holz, Stahl, lackier tem Eisen und schwarzem
MDF. Seine Fortsetzung findet das barocke, spannungsgeladene Spiel mit
Wider sprüchen und Gegensätzen im Entwurf für den Kronleuchter „Ge -
nio“. Sand ge strahlte Glaskugeln, ge bo gene Kupfer rohre und textilumman-
telte Ka bel stränge werden ergänzt durch bunte Kordeln und Quasten, die
den Industriematerialien des Leuch ters eine rührende Schwüls tig keit ver-
leihen. Der „Magico“ getaufte Teppich wiederum spielt mit dem Kontrast
zwischen ruhiger Flächigkeit und einer Bordüre aus kleinen Pompons. ub

T he still young Milanese label SEM, Spotti Edizioni Milano, speciali-
zes in limited furniture- and design editions. These are designed
and manufactured exclusively in Italy. As a rule, the suppliers are long-
established artisan enterprises, highly specialized manufactures as well
as innovative processors. As the designer of the current Futuraforma
Collection, the label managed to bring on board the Turin Marcante-
Testa architectural office known for its unconventional achievements in
interiors and design. They developed for SEM a three-part collection of
a table, a chandelier and a carpet. All three objects play with borrowings
from the opulent design history of Turin which is linked with names
such as Carlo Mollino, Toni Cordero, Lorenzo Prando and Riccardo Rosso.
The Duale table consists of two parts: an elongated table element with
a heavy laminate panel as the top as well as a round table with a top
consisting of warm-white marble. Both tops rest on hybrid supports of
mahogany, steel, painted iron and black MDF. The baroque, exciting
playing with contradictions and contrasts is continued in the design of
the Genio chandelier. Sandblasted glass spheres, bent copper pipes and
fabric-covered cable bundles are complemented with coloured cords
and tassels which give the industrial materials of the chandelier a tou-
ching pomposity. The carpet named Magico plays with the contrast bet-
ween a calm flat area and a border of small pompons.
