S portklettern feierte bei den Olympischen Sommerspielen von Tokio im vergangenen
Jahr Premiere. Trainieren können für diese Trendsportart nun auch die Grundschü-
lerInnen und EinwohnerInnen von Nový Hrozenkov. Die tschechische Kleinstadt liegt in
der Mährischen Walachei und hat seit eben jenem Corona-bedingt aufgeschobenen
Olympiajahr eine neue Sporthalle mit Kletterwand. Consequence forma architects
orientierten sich mit ihrem Entwurf an der ländlichen Gegend und der bestehenden
Schule, welche sie revitalisieren durften. Viel Tageslicht, Holzverkleidungen und rote
Farbakzente bestimmen die Atmosphäre der schlichten Sporthalle. Mit einer gebäude-
langen Glasfront öffnet sich diese zum Schulgarten. Als weitere Lichtquellen dienen drei
gegenüberliegende große Fenster. Ungewöhnlich ist der Längsschnitt des Gebäudes: Die
flache Decke über dem Sportfeld entwickelt sich auf beiden Stirnseiten – gekrönt von je
einem Oberlicht – steil in die Vertikale. Denn als der Entwurfsprozess bereits in vollem
Gange war, bestand der Direktor auf einer Kletterwand von größtmöglicher Höhe. Unsi-
cher war jedoch, ob Fördergelder bewilligt werden würden. Consequence forma archi-
tects ersannen daraufhin diesen neuen, ökonomisch und räumlich interessanten Sport-
und Kletterhallen-Typus. Signalrot dominiert die Kletterwand nun den gesamten Raum.
Climber, die es bis ganz oben schaffen, belohnt ein Blick durch das Giebelfenster.

S port climbing celebrated its premiere at the Tokyo Summer Olympics last year. Pri-
mary school pupils and residents of Nový Hrozenkov now also have the opportu-
nity to train for this trend sport. The small Czech town is located in Moravian Wallachia
and has had a new sports hall with a climbing wall since the Olympic year that was de-
layed due to the corona pandemic. Consequence forma architects based their design on
the rural area and the existing school, which they were commissioned to revitalise. Lots
of daylight, wood panelling and red highlights define the atmosphere of the simple
sports hall. A glass front the length of the building opens up towards the school garden.
Three large windows opposite serve as additional light sources. The longitudinal section
of the building is unusual: The ceiling above the sports field rises steeply at both ends,
each crowned by a skylight. This is because the director insisted on a climbing wall of
the greatest possible height when the design process was already in full swing. The ne-
cessary funding, however, was uncertain. Consequence forma architects then devised
this new, economically and spatially interesting type of sports and climbing hall. The
climbing wall now dominates the entire space in signal red. Climbers who make it to
the top are rewarded with a view through the gable window.
