H ier geht wieder die Post ab! Mit der Rückkehr in das ikonische Hauptpostgebäude
im Herzen von Helsinki – einem Betonbau mit senfgelb bis ockerfarbener Klinker-
fassade aus dem Jahr 1938 – erweitert der finnische Versanddienstleister Posti für seine
Kundschaft das Full-Service-Paketshop-Erlebnis. Wie bereits für die Box by Posti Nieder-
lassung (AIT 9.2020) betraute man die Innen-/Architektinnen von Fyra mit der gestalteri-
schen Umsetzung des umfassenden Selbstbedienungskonzepts. Ganz im Sinne der Nach-
haltigkeit, die im Fokus des Dienstleisters steht, sollte die Geschichte des Postgebäudes
im Inneren weiterhin präsent bleiben. Viele der vorhandenen Paketautomaten wurden
umfunktioniert und bestehen künftig im neuen Interieur als Möbel in den selbstständig
nutzbaren Recycling- und Verpackungsbereichen des Shops fort. Verständlich gegliedert,
führt der Grundriss gleich einer fließenden Choreografie durch die Räumlichkeiten. Ein
weich geformtes Sitzmöbel entlang der Fassadenseite unterstützt diesen Fluss des De-
signs und steht im Kontrast zu den verspiegelten Flächen der im rückwärtigen Bereich
verorteten Paketstation – sie lassen zudem das Raumgefüge größer erscheinen. Die aus
der Corporate Identity Postis abgeleitete Farbigkeit in Orange und Weiß wird durch ein
Packpapier-Braun ergänzt, um die Versandthematik im Raum erlebbar zu machen – und
bezieht sich damit gleichermaßen auf die Fassadenfarbe des Postgebäudes.

T hings are moving again here! With the return into the iconic main post-office buil-
ding in the very heart of Helsinki, a concrete construction with a mustard-yellow
to ochre-coloured brick façade from 1938, the Finnish Posti mail-handling service pro-
vider expands the successful full-service parcel-shop experience for its clientele. As for
the Box by Posti branch (AIT 9.2020), the interior architects and architects from Fyra
were again commissioned with the design implementation of the comprehensive self-
service concept. Entirely in line with the sustainability that is in the focus of the service
provider, the history of the post-office building was to still be visible inside. Many of
the existing parcel machines were given a new function and, in future, will serve as
furniture in the self-service recycling- and packaging zones of the shop. Clearly struc-
tured, the layout leads through the premises like a flowing choreography. A soft piece
of seating furniture along the façade supports this flow of the design and contrasts the
mirrored areas of the packaging station that is located in the back – these furthermore
make the spatial structure look larger. The colouring in orange and white derived from
Posti’s corporate identity is complemented with cardboard-brown to indicate the mai-
ling theme – and thus also refers to the façade colour of the postal building.
