ger premises always had to be cumbersomely darkened with black cloths since, to
date, nobody had had the courage to paint a complete three-wall studio with con-
cave mouldings measuring more than 100 square metres completely black.
Ample light, strong shadows – the Black Space
We did ... And thus, the first permanently black-painted photo studio in all of Germany
was produced! To find the right shade of black, we tested several mixtures with diffe-
rent levels of gloss – the final check was done by shooting videos. These served to esta-
blish how the light essential for the production is affected. The series of tests was worth
it since the surface effect of the Black Space speaks for itself! There are only minimal
reflections when the studio is lit – black thus does not turn into grey and the subject
exclusively consists of people or objects. In addition to the basic lighting, we also de-
veloped a specific light installation optionally bookable for the shooting. More than 30
light rods which can variably be attached at a cross beam above the concave moulding
or distributed as props in the concave moulding. A total success! Vogue magazine al-
ready booked the Black Space for a shooting. Due to the structural conversion of the
hall, a completely new room sequence and room feeling has been produced. For our
design, we also paid attention to branding. All the furniture and the props have been
equipped with the unobtrusive yet distinct logo of our company so that the reach of
Circl Space is automatically increased through the shootings by the clients and the ren-
ters. A large film- and photo backdrop which, itself, has turned into a photogenic motif. Konzeptvisualisierung • Concept visualization
