tral place of pleasure, relaxation, exercise – and, importantly, Elies’ physical self-care.
In El Cabanyal, the street functions as an extension of the living space – a public area
that becomes a social stage and one in which Elies can move about safely with his
electric wheelchair. This relationship between inside and outside, between retreat and
participation, is echoed in the spatial structure of Casavera: a flowing, generous home
animated by transitions, sightlines and shifting light.

Inclusive and individual – beyond standard planning

Many architectural and spatial solutions were developed in the process itself, beyond
normative standards. Inclusion was not just fulfilled in regulatory terms, but explored
as a spatial and design principle – aiming to create a place of care, everyday rituals
and self-determined living. When we visited the family on a summers day, this sense
of home was tangible: Elies glided through the pool, Aurora worked from a hammock,
while Vera drew a house in chalk on the coloured clay floor of the patio. Casavera
understands accessibility not as a constraint, but as an architectural principle with
integrative potential – spatially, socially and atmospherically. The clear division bet-
ween old and new creates distinct zones for togetherness and retreat, while the cen-
tral patio acts as a climatic and spatial link. The design responds sensitively to its
urban context by incorporating street life into the domestic realm and reimagining
everyday spatial routines. Beyond standard solutions, Casavera creates a home where
physical autonomy, family life and site-specific architecture coexist naturally. Reale Körperhaltungen als Grundlage für ergonomische Entscheidungen • Real postures: basis for ergonomic choices
