F ür viele ist ein weißer Sandstrand mit türkisblauem Meer der Inbegriff eines
traumhaften Urlaubsdomizil. Im Falle des privaten Ferienrefugiums Rancho San
Simón wird hingegen das Waldbaden zum höchsten Luxus erhoben. Die Anlage be-
steht aus insgesamt fünf Häusern, die so geplant wurden, dass der Baumbestand
möglichst unangetastet blieb. Ankerpunkt des Komplexes ist das sogenannte Gesell-
schaftshaus, das mit großem Ess- und Wohnbereich, Spielkeller und separaten
Räumlichkeiten für das Servicepersonal einer klassisch feudalen Gebäudeorganisa-
tion entspricht. Um dieses Haupthaus herum finden sich Bungalows unterschiedli-
cher Dimensionen als Rückzugsorte für den Bauherren und seine Gäste. Alle Ge-
bäude verfügen dabei über eigene, den Baumbestand integrierende Terrassen, Bäder
mit begrüntem Innenhof sowie großzügige Fensterfronten und Oberlichter, die den
Wald mit seinem Licht- und Schattenspiel des Blätterdaches bis ins Gebäudeinnere
holen. Galeriesituationen und unterschiedliche Deckenhöhen schaffen weitere inter-
essante Sichtbezüge zwischen den Nutzungsbereichen. Materialien wie Naturstein,
lokales Kiefernholz und schwarze Metallelemente fügen sich mit ihrer natürlichen
Farbigkeit in das Landschaftsbild ein und erzeugen ein stimmiges Gesamtkonzept,
das geradlinig-kraftvoll und geerdet-wertig daherkommt. hs

F or many, a white sandy beach and turquoise blue sea is the epitome of a dream
holiday destination. In the case of the private holiday retreat Rancho San
Simón, however, forest bathing is considered the ultimate luxury. The complex
consists of a total of five houses, which were planned so that the tree population
remained untouched to the greatest possible extent. The anchor element of the
complex is the so-called community house, which, with its large dining and living
area, games cellar and separate rooms for the service staff, corresponds to a classic
feudal building organisation. Bungalows of various dimensions surround this main
house as retreats for the owner of the complex and his guests. All buildings have
their own terraces integrating the trees, bathrooms with a green inner courtyard and
generous window fronts and skylights that bring the forest with its play of light and
shadow into the interiors. Gallery situations and different ceiling heights create
further interesting visual references between the areas of use. Materials such as
natural stone, local pine wood and black metal elements blend into the landscape
with their natural colouring and create a coherent overall concept that comes
across as straightforward, powerful and down-to-earth.
