G roßzügig und zugleich intim sollte die Gebäudequalität des Ferienhauses von
Claesson Koivisto Rune werden, doch statt der ursprünglich anvisierten 340
Quadratmeter musste für die erfolgreiche Neubaubewilligung ein deutlich kleinerer
Gebäudeentwurf von 170 Quadratmetern her. Um dennoch ein weitläufiges Raum-
gefühl entstehen zu lassen, wurden die einzelnen Nutzungsbereiche aufgereiht und
als unterschiedlich dimensionierte Kuben so gegeneinander verschoben, dass eine
40 Meter lange, einem Korridor gleiche Achse alle Bereiche von Raum zu Raum er-
schließt. Die auf diese Weise zahlreich entstandenen Hofsituationen sorgen mit groß-
flächigen Fensterfronten für eine natürliche Belichtung und dienen darüber hinaus
als sicht- und windgeschützte Raumerweiterungen. Das sogenannte „Haus der vielen
Höfe“ bietet damit Outdoor-Räume, die bei unterschiedlichsten Wetterlagen nutzbar
bleiben. Der innen wie außen verlegte Bodenbelag aus Kalkstein verstärkt diesen
Eindruck und verbindet die Höfe nahtlos mit den terrassierten Außenanlagen. Un-
mittelbar am Meer, von bewaldeten Dünen umgeben, fügt sich die streng kubische
Gebäudestruktur erst durch die Farbigkeit der gewählten Materialien harmonisch in
ihren Kontext ein. Fassadenziegel und Bodenbelag bilden hier optisch eine Einheit,
um die Anlage möglichst fließend in die Dünenlandschaft übergehen zu lassen. hs

T he building quality of Claesson Koivisto Rune’s holiday home was to be both
spacious and intimate, but instead of the 340 square metres originally envisa-
ged, the permit for a new building required a much smaller design of 170 square me-
tres. In order to create an expansive feeling of space nonetheless, the individual
areas of use were lined up and shifted against each other as differently dimensioned
cubes in such a way that a 40-metre-long axis resembling a corridor provides access
to all areas from room to room. The numerous courtyard situations created in this
way provide natural lighting with large-scale window fronts and also serve as room
extensions that are protected from view and wind. The so-called House of Many
Courtyards thus offers outdoor spaces that can be used in a wide variety of weather
conditions. The limestone flooring, laid both inside and out, reinforces this impres-
sion and seamlessly connects the courtyards with the terraced outdoor areas. Di-
rectly by the sea, surrounded by wooded dunes, the strictly cubic building structure
blends harmoniously into its context thanks to the colourfulness of the chosen ma-
terials. The façade tiles and flooring visually form a coherent unity to allow the com-
plex to merge as smoothly as possible into the dune landscape.
