Serie Nolita in der Schulkantine – robust und leicht • Nolita – robust and light

F ür den Umbau der Mittelschule Enrico Fermi wurde das Turiner Ar-
chitekturbüro BDR Bureau engagiert. Unter dem Motto „Bringing out
culture from classrooms“ erarbeitete das Team ein Konzept, das den Dia-
log zwischen der schulischen Einrichtung und der Umgebung fördern soll.
Der Eingang wurde dafür ins Untergeschoss verlegt, und die für die Öf-
fentlichkeit zugänglichen Bereiche sind von nun an neuer zentraler Treff-
punkt der Schule. Auf der Ost- und Westseite des Gebäudes befindet sich
ein offenes Treppenskelett, das den Schülern ein Forum für Diskussionen
bietet. Die öffentlichen Bereiche wie die Sporthalle, die Cafeteria und die
Bibliothek – die auch als Theater und Auditorium genutzt werden kann –
wurden vom italienischen Möbelhersteller Pedrali ausgestattet. Die Wahl
fiel auf Möbelstücke aus den Kollektionen Buddy, Social und Nolita. Die
Serie Buddy umfasst Stühle, Zwei-Sitzer-Sofas, Chaiselongues und Poufs.
Die Kombination aus voluminösen Polstern und schlankem Rahmen ist
mit und ohne Arm- und Rückenlehnen und in den Höhen 400 Millimeter
und 550 Millimeter erhältlich. Die Linie Social ist eine modulare Sitz-
gruppe mit oder ohne Rückenlehne, erhältlich in linearen, eckigen oder
gekurvten Elementen, die alle miteinander kombiniert werden können
und damit prädestiniert für flexibel nutzbare Gemeinschaftsbereiche. Die
Outdoor-Stuhlfamilie Nolita aus strukturiertem Stahlrohr ist in verschie-
denen Farbvarianten erhältlich und wurde aufgrund seiner robusten
Leichtigkeit in der schuleigenen Cafeteria eingesetzt. pb

T he Torino BDR Bureau architectural office has been commissioned
with the conversion of the Enrico Fermi middle school. With the
motto “Bringing out culture from classrooms”, the team developed a
concept which is intended to encourage dialogue between the educatio-
nal facility and the urban surroundings. For this purpose, the entrance
was moved onto the lower level and the publicly accessible areas will
now be serving as a new central meeting point of the school. On the
east- and the west side of the building is an open “skeleton” staircase
providing a forum for the pupils. The public areas such as the sports hall,
the cafeteria and the library – which can also be used as a theatre and
an auditorium – were equipped by the Italian furniture manufacturer Pe-
drali. Selected were pieces from the Buddy, Social and Nolita collections.
The Buddy series includes chairs, two-seater sofas, chaise longues and
poufs. The combinations of voluminous cushions and slender frames are
available with and without arm- and backrests and are manufactured
the heights 400 and 550 millimetres. The Social line is a modular seating
ensemble with or without backrests and available as linear, angular or
curved elements which can all be combined and are thus predestined
for flexibly usable common areas. The Nolita series of outdoor chairs
consisting of structured steel tubes is produced in various colours and,
due to its robust lightness, was chosen for the school cafeteria.
