HRS HEADQUARTERS
IN KÖLN
Coeur Cologne - the name says it all: MSM Meyer
Schmitz-Morkramer's construction project at Breslauer
Platz in Cologne greatly enhances the situation on the
neglected rear side of the main station. HRS Group mo-
ved into the new building. Lepel & Lepel designed a wor-
king environment for the company that takes account of
the required flexibility and reflects its corporate identity.
H RS Group had its new headquarters in the Coeur Cologne
designed under the motto of "The World as a Guest of Cologne".
The global orientation of the company, which provides holiday accom-
modation all over the world, should be reflected in the interior design:
each storey is therefore dedicated to a different continent. While the
first floor is dedicated to the theme of Northern Europe and was there-
fore implemented with cooler shades and the second floor is designed
in North American vintage style, fiery colours and patterns can be

employees and visitors can enjoy the view of Cologne's cathedral from
a majority of the workplaces, once again brings to mind the location
in Germany. Lepel & Lepel from Cologne is responsible for the interior

foyer, the conference areas, the business lounge and the innovation
showroom. In principle, the interior designers distinguish between
two areas: whilst the open-plan offices are characterised by a neutral
design using calm and homogeneous colours, the other rooms, which
are intended for shorter stays, are dominated by more vibrant colours
and motifs. With regard to the organisation of office areas, users asked
for the greatest possible variability: in their opinion, it is no longer a
question of completely specifying everything so that nothing can be
changed anymore. The interiors should rather be regarded as tools
that serve the company's processes. Thus, HRS employees choose the
location and means in the open-plan offices in accordance with their
current task. Thanks to flexible furnishing, changing configurations for
varying situations and teams are possible at any time. In case employ-
ees need to temporarily withdraw from the open-plan office, corre-
sponding room-in-room modules are available. In the small "phone
booths", employees can make undisturbed phone calls or work in a
concentrated way. Larger modules equipped with whiteboards are
