I n Berlin-Charlottenburg steht bis heute eine Ikone der Architektur: Die
Wohnmaschine von Le Corbusier aus dem Jahr 1958. Das Bauprojekt
Corbusier-Haus entstand im Zuge der Bauausstellung Interbau 1957 als
Reaktion auf die nach dem Krieg herrschende Wohnungsnot und gehört
zu den fünf realisierten Wohnbauten, denen Le Corbusier das Prinzip der
Unit´t d`Habitation zugrunde legte. Auf 17 Etagen entstanden 530 Wohn-
einheiten mit fünf unterschiedlichen Wohnungstypen, die sich seit 1979
alle in Privatbesitz befinden. Der kleinste Wohnungstyp umfasst in sei-
ner ursprünglichen Planung auf 33 Quadratmetern einen abgeschlosse-
nen Eingangsbereich, eine schmale Küche mit Schiebefenster zum Wohn-
raum, ein kleines Duschbad und einen Wohn- und Schlafraum mit
Austritt auf eine Loggia. Eines dieser Ein-Zimmer-Apartments wurde
kürzlich im Auftrag seines neuen Besitzers unter Berücksichtigung zeitge-
mäßer Wohnstandards in den Originalzustand zurückversetzt. Die Archi-
tektin Kathrin Bunte sorgte neben den Raumeinbauten nach ursprüngli-
chem Entwurf für ein Farbkonzept mit Farben aus der von Le Corbusier
eigens entwickelten Farbpalette. Passend dazu wurde die Schalterserie
LS 990 von Jung ausgewählt, die in sämtlichen Corbusier-Farben matt
lackierbar ist. In Kombination mit den gewählten Wandfarben entsteht
so ein elegant reduzierter Raumeindruck, der augenscheinlich konse-
quent alle Elemente an der Wand mit demselben Farbton überzieht und
dadurch eine intensive Farbtiefe im Raum erzeugt. hs
Schalterserie LS 990 fügt sich perfekt ins Farbkonzept ein. • The LS 990 range of switches perfectly fits into the colour concept.
Das Apartment wurde in seinen ursprünglichen Zustand zurückversetzt. • The apartment was restored to its original condition. T o this day, an architectural icon is standing in Berlin Charlottenburg:
The “living machine” by Le Corbusier from 1958. The Corbusier Haus
building project originated in the context of the Interbau 1957 building
exhibition as a reaction to the housing shortage prevailing after the war
and is part of five residential buildings constructed which Le Corbusier
based on the principle of the Unité d’Habitation. On 17 storeys, 530 resi-
dential units were generated with five different types of apartments
which have all been privately owned since 1979. In its original plan, the
smallest type of dwelling has, on 33 square metres, an enclosed entrance
area, a narrow kitchen with sliding windows towards the living room, a
small shower and a living- and bedroom with an exit to a loggia. On
behalf of its new owner, one of these one-room apartments was recently
restored to its original condition while taking contemporary standards of
living into consideration. In addition to spatial installations according to
the original design, architect Kathrin Bunte chose a colour concept with
colours from the range specifically designed by Le Corbusier. To match it,
the LS 990 range of switches by Jung was selected which can be painted
matte in all the Corbusier colours. In combination with the wall colours
chosen, an elegantly purist spatial look is thus created which evidently
consistently covers all the elements on the wall with the same colour and
thus produces an intense depth of colour in the room.
