                                                                                    Elegant,  minimalist  and  unmissable,  Germany’s  first
                                                                                    flagship store of the Spanish eyewear brand Miller &
                                                                    770
                                                                                    Marc has graced the ground floor of Auguststraße/corner
                                                                                    of Koppenplatz in Berlin-Mitte since August 2023. With
                                                                                    its sustainable approach, the Berlin-based Coordination
                                                                                    office reflects the eyewear brand’s aspiration to be “not
                                                                                    the best in the world, but the best for the world”.

                                                                                    C   oordination was founded in 2004 by designer Flip Sellin and archi-
                                                                                        tect Jochen Gringmuth. Together with associate Lena Kramer and
                                                                                    an international team of architects, interior- and product designers, they
                                                                                    develop convincing design concepts based on multi-layered expertise
                                                                    840
                                                                                    and an eye for spatial, social and cultural circumstances. In the field of
                                                                                    tension between duality and contrast and with a keen sense of colour,
                                                                                    the office delivers expressive results. Their portfolio ranges from furnis-
                                                                                    hing concepts with customized furniture and lighting for brand architec-

                                                                                    ture and retail spaces all the way to exhibition concepts. The centrally
                                                                                    positioned and oval-shaped terracotta-coloured retail counter and the
                                                                                    design-analogue sales counter are the office’s own locally produced

                                                                                    designs. Coordination created an effective colour contrast with a floor

                                                                                    covering dipped in deep cobalt blue and the walls, reveals and win-
                                                                                    dow frames, which are also cobalt blue and frame the shop windows.

                                                                                    The result is an elegantly Mediterranean feel with a brutalistic twist.
                                                                                    A sand-coloured curtain runs as a space-defining element through the
                                                                                    entire shop to the rear examination area and lines all the walls oppo-
                                                                                    site the shop window. The clever zoning with free-standing furniture

                                                                                    creates open lines of sight for the visitors. In the spirit of sustainability,
                                                                                    the reused and purposefully placed filigree white eyewear displays from
                                                                                    a former Spanish branch set the stage for the well illuminated and con-
                                                    kitchen

                                                                                    is revolutionizing the eyewear industry and establishing transparency,

                                                                                    stainless steel. In keeping with their advertising slogan “Buy less, choose
                                                                                    well, make it last”, this is a great way to be seen and the appealing retail
