G errit Schilder und Hill Scholte haben unlängst im Rotterdamer Szeneviertel ZoHo die
zweite Niederlassung der Materialbibliothek Broeinest gestaltet. Der Zusammen -
schluss von Lieferanten und Herstellern dekorativer Oberflächen, Möbel und Leuchten
lädt Innenarchitekten und Architekten dazu ein, sich vor Ort inspirieren zu lassen, mit
Bauherren für die Bemusterung eines Projektes vorbeizukommen und Informationen aus
erster Hand zu erhalten. Entlang der Fassade des kollektiven Bürogebäudes Het_Gebouw
haben die Architekten zunächst ein Café und Besprechungs räume angeordnet. Bereits
hier zieht die zweischichtige Materialprobenwand an der Rückseite ihre Auf merksamkeit
auf sich: Hunderte Paneele präsentieren die Vielfalt der Ober flächen und lassen den Be -
sucher neben der Optik auch deren Haptik erleben. Ihr fröhlich buntes Pixelmuster geht
am Boden in ebenso auffällige Teppich fliesen über, wodurch die Fülle an Inspirationen
noch gesteigert wird. Die breite Mittelzone der 675 Quadratmeter großen, roh belassenen
Betonstruktur ist als Kommunikations fläche lose möbliert. Eine Landschaft aus Sitz ge le -
gen heiten und transluzenten, aus Polycarbonatplatten ge fertigten Kuben bietet Platz für
Gespräche und innerhalb der Kuben Raum für konzentriertes Arbeiten. Dazwischen wird
die Produktschau an unterschiedlichen Präsentations möbeln und am Boden fortgeführt,
wodurch die Qualität der Beläge direkt auf die Probe gestellt wird.

G errit Schilder and Hill Scholte recently designed the second branch of the
Broeinest material library in the trendy Rotterdam neighbourhood of ZoHo. The
combination of suppliers and producers of decorative surfaces, furniture and luminai-
res invites interior designers and architects to find their inspiration on site, to come
by with clients for the sampling of a project and to get first-hand information. Along
the façade of the Het_Gebouw shared building with offices, the architects first instal-
led a café and meeting rooms. Already here, the two-layer wall of material samples
attracts attention: Hundreds of panels present the diversity of surfaces and, in addi-
tion to how they look, also let the visitors try out how they feel. On the wall’s floor,
its cheerfully colourful pixel pattern merges into equally striking carpet tiles which
even increase the wealth of inspirations. The wide central zone of the 675 square-
metre concrete structure which has been left untreated is loosely furnished as a com-
munication area. A landscape consisting of seating and translucent cubes made of
polycarbonate panels offers room for talks and, inside the cubes, privacy for concen-
trated working. In-between them, the product show is continued on various items of
display furniture and on the floor, which directly tests the quality of the coverings.
