r 12:30 – Along Passeig Gracia we reach yet another building by Gaudí, the famous Casa Batlló (12) – a magical place
both inside and out! Josep Batlló gave Gaudí complete creative freedom for his work between 1904 and 1906. The ar-
chitect completely changed the façade, enlarged the inner courtyard, rearranged the interior walls and created the in-
terior as a total work of art.
r 13:00 – A few metres further on is Casa Lléo Morera (13), a building by architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner and one
of the most spectacular buildings in the modernist style. In 1902, Francesca Morera Ortiz, heiress to a merchant family,
commissioned the Catalan architect to convert the old Casa Rocamora, built in 1864.
r 14:00 – The Green Spot (14), a vegetarian restaurant with authentic design, for which we were also asked to design
the carpets, is a perfect place to have lunch!
r 15:30 – Subsequently, we head for the small town of Esplugues de Llobregat, which is located just outside Barcelona.
There is the extensive and magnificent Espai Xavier Corberò (15), the estate of the sculptor of the same name. When
Xavier Corberò bought the first of eight dilapidated seventeenth-century country houses at the end of the 1960s, he him-
self probably didn’t realise that he would spend more than 40 years converting it. Today, the building extends over se-
veral levels; it is a labyrinth of studios, living areas, exhibition rooms and gardens. Corberò is considered one of the
most important Catalan artists since Gaudí. His villa is mystical and exudes every bit of the great creative spirit of the
artist who breathed new life into the place.
r 18:00 – On the way back to the city, we stop at the MACBA Bar (16), the bar at the MACBA Museu d’Art Contemporani
de Barcelona, for an aperitif. The museum of contemporary art is located in one of the most important buildings of mo-
dern architecture in Barcelona. Completed in 1995 and designed by US architect Richard Meier, the building appears KERROCK DEUTSCHLAND GMBH
sterile at first, but offers a striking architectural contrast to its surroundings in the medieval Raval district. in info@kerrockk.de
