B arcelona! I have always been very attached to this city. I was born here and my whole family has lived here for ge- Hygienedecken
nerations. Barcelona is not only my hometown but also one of my most important sources of inspiration. In pre-
paration for the 1992 Summer Olympics, the city opened up towards the sea, was given a beach and a marina with a

ards. It was at that time that the world took notice of Barcelona – the Catalan capital surprised and enchanted. Tourism
was born and changed the morphology of this city, which was not always welcomed by the inhabitants. I too sometimes
long for the old Barcelona, but the gastronomic scene that has flourished since then and the all-encompassing cultural Humancare Lab
offer make up for a lot. I am proud of the city and its development and I also benefit from it, of course. Humancare Plus

the area’s industrial past.
r 11:30 – We continue to Casa Vicens (3), an architectural jewel by Antoni Gaudí. The residential building was construc-
ted between 1883 and 1885 as the first major commission for Manuel Vicens i Montaner, a wealthy stockbroker in Bar-
celona. This early project by Gaudí already clearly shows distinct basic elements of his style, such as the use of undu-
