3 Neben dem Sport hat sich der Golfclub Lauterhofen in seiner Philosophie der Natur-
und Landschaftspflege verschrieben. Das umfasst selbstverständlich auch die Toilet -
ten zwischen den Golfbahnen: Statt wie andernorts üblich Plastikhäuschen auf die Grün -
flächen zu stellen, ersann Clubmitglied und Architekt Johannes Berschneider ein Konzept
kleiner Architekturstationen, die aus am Ort vorhandenen Materialien bestehen und sich
so harmonisch in die Landschaft der Oberpfalz einfügen. Zu den stillen Örtchen aus
Schnittholz und aus Stampfbeton (siehe AIT 1/2.2013) gesellt sich seit Kurzem ein drittes
Häuschen aus Stahl. Das Baumaterial stammt aus einem Steinbruch im nahen Pilsach,
wo das Architekturbüro selbst seinen Sitz hat. Für andere wären die dicken, verwitterten
Stahlplatten vielleicht Schrott gewesen, für den Architekten waren sie die Inspiration zu
einem neuen Projekt. Mit dem Schweißbrenner wurden die Platten geformt, mit Öffnun -
gen versehen und zu einer Box zusammengefügt. Per Kran gelangte die tonnenschwere
Stahlskulptur schließlich an ihren jetzigen Standort neben einer Schutzhütte aus Stroh
(siehe AIT 7/8.2015), die als Treffpunkt für Clubmitglieder und Gäste dient. Über runde,
mit bedrucktem Glas versehene Deckenausschnitte sowie über seitliche Schlitze in der

3 According to its philosophy, the Lauterhofen Golf Club has committed itself to
sports as well as to the conservation of nature and landscape. Obviously, this also
comprises the toilets located in-between the holes. Instead of setting up small plastic
houses as elsewhere, architect Johannes Berschneider conceived the concept of small
architecture stations, which originate from materials existing at the respective location
and thus harmoniously blend in with the landscape of Upper Palatinate. A third small
steel house recently joined the restrooms built of sawn timber and tamped concrete
(see AIT 1/2.2013). The building material comes from a quarry in the nearby town of
Pilsach, where the architectural practice has its premises. Others would probably
regard the thick, weather-beaten steel plates a scrap metal, but for the architect they
served as inspiration for a new project. The plates were formed with a welding torch,
joined to form a box, and openings were cut out. Finally, a crane moved the steel
sculpture weighing tons to its current location next to a shelter built of straw (AIT
7/8.2015). Daylight enters the room through circular cutouts in the ceiling, which are
covered with printed glass as well as through lateral slits in the ceiling. Owing to the
unusual materials and not least, the red varnished mortar machine, the drum of which
now serves as a washbasin, the house almost seems to come from a different world.
