2 Eine Stadt ist Genk erst seit dem Jahr 2000 – allerdings wurde es dank der
Entdeckung großer Kohlevor kommen rund 100 Jahre zuvor zu einem der bedeu-
tendsten industriellen Zentren Belgiens. Genk ist zugleich die Heimatstadt von
Enzo Riggio, der dort seit mehr als 20 Jahren erfolgreich einen Friseursalon führt. Vor
Kurzem eröffnete er in einem neuen Einkaufszentrum nun seinen zweiten Laden, den
Kapsalon R (Kapsalon ist das belgische Wort für Friseursalon). Das dazugehörige
Innenraumkonzept stammt von der Agentur Creneau Inter national aus dem belgi schen
Hasselt. Sie kombinierte die Wohlfühlatmosphäre edler Salons mit modernen Elemen -
ten und robusten Materialien. Bereits am Eingang sticht ein besonderes Detail heraus,
das den Zweck des Ladens verdeutlicht – das weiße Muster der raumhohen Gitter
besteht aus Scheren! Hinter dem Eingang befindet sich linksseitig der Empfangs- und
Bartresen, auf der rechten Seite sorgt eine Lounge für wohnliches Ambiente.
Geschnitten und frisiert wird in der mittleren Zone des lang gestreckten Raumes. Einige
Sitzplätze sind an den seitlichen Wänden angeordnet; die anderen Stühle gruppieren
sich hingegen rund um einen Raumteiler in der Mitte des Salons, der mit schwarzen
Stahlrahmen in einzelne Plätze unterteilt wurde. Der letzte Bereich ist um zwei Stufen
erhöht und beinhaltet die Waschbecken. Durch schräge, schwarz-weiße Streifen
wirken Boden und Wände, als seien sie in Bewegung. Auf der Fassade ist wiederum

2 It was only in the year 2000 that Genk became a city – thanks to the discovery of
large coal deposits about one hundred years before, however, it had become one
of Belgium’s most important industrial centres. Genk is also the home town of Enzo
Riggio who, for more than 20 years now, has been successfully running a hairdressing
salon there. Just recently and in a new shopping centre, he opened his second salon,
Kapsalon R (kapsalon is the Belgian word for hairdressing salon). The concept for the
interior is by the Creneau International agency in Hasselt/Belgium. They combined the
feel-good atmosphere of classy salons with modern elements and robust materials.
Already at the entrance, a special detail stands out which makes the purpose of the
place clear – the white pattern of the ceiling-high lattice consists of scissors! Behind the
entrance there is the reception- and bar counter on the left while, on the right, a lounge
makes for a cosy ambience. Cutting and styling is done in the middle zone of the
oblong space. Some seats are arranged along the side walls, the other stand around a
partition in the centre of the salon which was divided into individual seats with black
steel frames. The last zone is elevated by two steps and contains the wash basins.
Thanks to oblique black-and-white stripes, the floor and the walls look as if they were
in motion. On the façade, one again finds the scissor pattern but here as a print.
Welcher Laden sich hier verbirgt, verraten bereits die Gitter. • The lattices reveal the kind of place this is.
