D ie kraftvolle Architektur Massimo C. Bodinis zu respektieren und den Bestand im
Inneren aufzuwerten, machte sich Innenarchitektin Cristina Celestino mit ihrem
Team zur Aufgabe. Ein Ehepaar hatte sich in die 1978 fertiggestellte, Residence Club ge-
nannte Wohnanlage Bodinis verliebt und erwarb eines der 38 Apartments. Von den Ma-
terialien und der Geometrie der kantigen, brutalistischen Volumina beeindruckt und den
Mehrwert der raffiniert auskragenden Terrassen erkennend, legte Cristina Celestino Wert
darauf, den Innen- mit dem Außenraum besser zu verknüpfen. Der bestehende Grundriss
wurde beibehalten, da er funktional den Bedürfnissen des Ehepaars entspricht. Vom Ess-
bereich mit durch Milchglas abgetrennter Küche führen nun zwei Stufen in den abgesenk-
ten Teil des Wohnzimmers. Ein ziegelrotes Pflanzmöbel schafft die räumliche Trennung.
Über Schiebefenster lässt sich der Wohnraum gänzlich zur Terrasse hin öffnen und betont
die innere und äußere Kontinuität. Der alte Teppich wich Travertinböden – verlegt im glei-
chen römischen Verbund wie auf den Balkonen. In Anlehnung an Fassade und Erschlie-
ßungsräume reicht der Farbkanon von Rosé über Rostrot hin zu messingfarbenen Details
und verschmilzt mit dem Kolorit des Travertins – italienische Möbelklassiker aus den
1980er-Jahren führen das Konzept stringent fort. So entstand eine 120 Quadratmeter
große, elegante Stadtwohnung, die sich harmonisch mit der Geschichte verbindet.

I nterior designer Cristina Celestino and her team set themselves the task of respecting
Massimo C. Bodini’s powerful architecture and enhancing the existing interior. A
couple had fallen in love with Bodini’s Residence Club, a residential complex comple-
ted in 1978, and purchased one of the 38 flats. Impressed by the materials and geome-
try of the angular, brutalist volumes and recognizing the added value of the ingeniously
cantilevered terraces, Cristina Celestino made a point of better linking the indoor and
outdoor spaces. The existing floor plan was retained because it functionally met the
couple’s needs. From the dining area with a kitchen, separated by frosted glass screen,
two steps now lead to the lowered part of the living room. A brick-red planter provides
spatial separation. Sliding windows allow the living room to open entirely onto the ter-
race, emphasising the internal and external continuity. The old carpet was replaced by
travertine flooring – laid in the same Roman bond as that on the balconies. In keeping
with the façade and circulation spaces, the colour spectrum ranges from rosé to rusty
red to brass-coloured details and blends in with the colour scheme of travertine. Italian
furniture classics from the 1980s consistently pursue the concept. All this results in an
elegant 120-square-metre city apartment that harmoniously connects with history.
