stützen tragen das Mandelaugenförmige Haus über dem
darunter liegenden Canyon. Als Höhepunkt im Film stürzt
es in den Abgrund. In der Realität wurde lediglich ein Mo-
dell auf dem Gelände der Warner Bros. Studios zerstört.

The Garcia House, designed by John Lautner, is located
in the Hollywood Hills. In Lethal Weapon 2 it is the home
of villain Arjen Rudd. 60-foot-high steel columns support
the almond-shaped house above the canyon below. As the
climax of the film it collapses into the abyss. In reality,
only a model of the building was destroyed on the premi-
ses of Warner Bros. studios.

Der War Room aus Stanley Kubricks Dr. Strangelove ist
wahrscheinlich das bekannteste Werk des Architekten
und Set-Designers Ken Adam und mit einer Länge von 40
Metern, einer Breite von 30 Metern und einer Höhe von 10
Metern zugleich eines der größten Filmsets, das jemals ge-
baut wurde. Steven Spielberg bezeichnet den War Room
„das beste Filmset in der Geschichte des Kinos“.

The War Room in Stanley Kubrick's Dr. Strangelove is pro-
bably the most famous work by the architect and set de-
signer Ken Adam and, with a length of 40 metres, a width
of 30 metres and a height of 10 metres, is also one of the
largest film sets ever built. No less an authority than Ste-
ven Spielberg described the War Room "the best film set
ever designed in the history of cinema".

nen, befindet sich im Inneren der Vulkaninsel das Sinn-
bild des Bösewicht-Chics des späten 20. Jahrhunderts.
Heute ist die Insel bekannt als „James Bond Island“.

When production designer Peter Murton first set eyes
on Ko Khao in Phang Nga Bay, Thailand, he knew that a
nefarious villain like Francisco Scaramanga would feel
very much at home here. Hard to suspect from the out-
side, the epitome of late-20th-century chic of villainy is
hidden inside the volcanic island. Today Ko Khao is also
known as "James Bond Island".
