Die Einen empfinden es als Einengung, die Anderen als Stütze. Mit
Hilfe eines Korsetts aus Stahlprofilen gelang es Šépka architekti, in
Prag ein instabiles Gebäude aus den 1930er-Jahren zu einem groß-
zügigen Familienwohnsitz zu erweitern. Das kleine Wochenend-
häuschen am nordwestlichen Stadtrand war ursprünglich nicht für
eine ganzjährige Nutzung vorgesehen, Dach und Fassade dünn und
einfach ausgeführt. Eine ungewöhnliche Intervention sichert nun die
historische Substanz und macht sie zum neuen Lebensmittelpunkt.
Some feel it as a restriction, others as support. With the help of a
corset made of steel profiles, Šépka architekti succeeded in exten-
ding an unstable building in Prague, which dates from the 1930s,
into a spacious family residence. The small weekend cottage on
the north-western outskirts of the city was not originally intended
for year-round use, the roof and façade were thin and of a simple
design. An unusual intervention now secures the historical buil-
ding fabric and makes it a new centre of life.
