HOUSE F9
IN STUTTGART
Stuttgart's renowned hillside locations have seen a new
addition: Zoll Architekten constructed a small, black

house at the Haigst that appears surprisingly spacious
4 inside. The magic word is reduction. On the one hand,
only two materials - concrete and wood - were used. On
the other hand, fixtures replace a large part of the usual
furniture. The result is a tiny house for five residents.

T he new residence of Tom-Philipp Zoll and his wife Johanna

Stuttgart's prime hillside location. The view down to the state capital of
Baden-Württemerg in the valley is fantastic and the district is extremely
2 popular as a residential neighbourhood. Correspondingly, this is a
densely built-up area. Nevertheless, the new building for the Zoll Family

clearly demonstrates the amount of quality living space that can be cre-
ated with skilful planning despite the exceptionally small footprint: The

Apart from the three children's rooms accommodated on the first floor,
furniture in the true sense of the word was largely dispensed with: in

the dining area there are a few chairs, in the living room there is a sofa
and a coffee table. This absolute reduction has a clarifying effect and

referred to, meets the KfW 70 energy efficiency standard. Heating and
